Description
You and your pets will find serenity here with little sound besides nearby birds, coyotes and wind through the trees. Mostly, we want you to have a place to rest your head before venturing back into Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. We may not have much to offer by way of amenities, but you won’t find solace, comfort and beauty like this from the side of the highway. Returning guests- send us a message if interested in a returning stay. The space You will find multiple outdoor seating areas that will allow you to view the dunes, Blanca Peak and Mt. Herard. You should expect to see deer, quail, owls, elk, turkeys, and possibly even coyotes and a porcupine. Inside you can rest with cozy blankets, natural light, heaters, A/C or fans, and your choice of books to read or games to play. You will find your own private outdoor area with perfect sunset views! Our HOA prohibits fire pits, but sitting outside you can enjoy native birds galore. Remember, there is no smoking (no 420 or cigarettes), no drugs and no partying on the property. Voices carry far over open spaces - so please be aware of noise levels and respect our private, quiet community. With a comfy queen bed and the sofa, cot, or blow-up mattress for a third adult, you and your friends can find a nice home during your visit. Got kids? We have books, coloring books and games if you find yourself indoors. Don’t worry, there are games and books for adults, too! With a mini-fridge to store some groceries or beverages, a microwave, a toaster oven and an electric 2-burner stovetop, you can make meals or heat water for coffee and tea. The kitchenette is stocked with pots and pans, dishes and glasses, toaster and mini-waffle-iron, and - of course - coffee maker and French press. We have a water bowl and dog beds if you are bringing pets along (let us know so we can put them out!). Extra pillows, blankets, heater fan, AC and lamps will keep you cozy as you rest for your impending adventures. There is no running water but rather a foot-pumped sink, extra jugs of drinking water, and a self-contained toilet that we can transfer to our septic (see listing pictures). Be sure to look it up or check out the pictures in the listing so you know what to expect! It's not as bad as it may seem, our guest reviews can confirm! Guest access This space is a shared part of our property but we do our best to give you complete privacy. The “kitchen” area in your loft includes a two-burner (cast iron) hot plate as well as anything you might need for basic cooking and eating. There is a toaster oven, mini-waffle and pancake irons and coffee station. We also have a mini-fridge and microwave so you can come from adventures to a nice cold beverage! Other things to note Remember you will not have access to running water. There is a foot-pumped sink perfect for hand-washing, teeth-brushing and all your small sink needs! You will have a clean, comfortable manual toilet system so you don’t have to leave the loft (similar to RV) but don’t expect any frills! This allows us to share the space and give you privacy while also protecting the land and water by ensuring all waste goes straight into our septic. This property is no 420, no cigarettes and no drugs. Pets- yes! We are the most pet-friendly place in the area! Just let us know so we can have dog bed available and the fresh water bowl ready :) We are located in an HOA covenanted community which asks that guests do not wander the neighborhood beyond our property. It is imperative that you abide by all house rules and ensure everyone in your group is aware of the guidelines as well.
