Park your car in our double driveway on side of house and walk to campus in 5 minutes or to heart of Newark in 10 minutes for multiple restaurants, festivals, UD events, or drive to Amish Country, Delaware River or Chesapeake Bay, Beaches, Longwood Gardens, Historic Sites, Museums, Tax-free shopping at Christiana Mall or downtown Newark. Guests have private entrance to 2-room suite with common area amenities: deck with table and chairs; small dining area in Common Room; private queen bedroom with chest of drawers, desk and television. Bathroom in center hall. You may also use our patio under pergola or open sun to enjoy our award-winning garden. We enjoy getting to know our guests but also respect your privacy so you can unwind and relax in our home away from your own busy days at work, etc. With advance notice, you may also request special amenities in our spa and limited use of W/D for additional fee. We will put complimentary milk and cereal with seasonal fruit and snacks in Common Room for your coffee/tea service. You may bring additional snacks for the small refrigerator and microwave. Dine outside on new deck or in small dining area in suite. "Old Newark" where we have lived for 30 years in a custom home (built in 1950's for an English Professor/Dept Chair) is situated among other unique upscale homes of UD faculty/staff and other professionals. We were recognized by the City of Newark for several major additions, including a separate Carriage House w. office space, extensive re-landscaping (see photos.) Our neighbors have also done many architectural and interior improvements to blend modern amenities with classic design. Since there are no student rental homes near us, it is very quiet, although activities and nightlife are within easy walking distance. After many years of living abroad (Europe and Asia) we love Delaware, especially living close to campus with its many cultural and scholarly presentations. A walking trail, bicycling to the Georgian style campus to enjoy the exuberance of students or the hegemony of world-class scholars at UD are real assets guests from near or abroad. Our small dog enjoys riding in the basket to greet students, parents, and alumni since he considers himself a "Blue Hen", too! Park in our double driveway on side of house and walk 3 blocks to main UD campus or beautiful Main Street in downtown Newark. You can even walk to Train Station for SEPTA and Amtrak or use I-95 or Route 1, a short drive away. Separate entrance allows you to come and go, but we do ask for quiet hours after 10 pm. Use the deck, patio, and yard...enjoy additional snacks if you care to bring them for small fridge and wet bar. We are available for tips and directions, but you will have a lot of privacy in the upstairs suite as needed. Suitable for Adults 25 and older.
