Description

Our farm is located in Southwest Virginia on 160 acres of forests and rolling pastures. Nestled among the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, the Jefferson National Forest, New River, and multiple access points to the Appalachian Trail are less than twenty minutes away. We believe in making the amazing resources of our farm available to members of our community and beyond who have a passion for living close to the land in a creative, communal setting. The space This unit is a private bedroom in a shared Airbnb guest-only house. The house in which the bedroom is located has been completely remodeled including new hardwood floors and trim throughout the entire house, a new modern kitchen with all new appliances, cozy comfortable spaces conducive to relaxing and enjoying the spectacular views. A Scandinavian wood stove completes the cozy vibe and adds a pleasant warmth to this special living space. There may be other Airbnb guests and part time residents sharing the living room, bathroom kitchen and common areas. Upon request, you can receive a key to your room so you can secure your belongings. For cooking, guests can use the newly added kitchen in the house, the farm kitchen is also available if the need arises and there is also an outdoor kitchen space available for use seasonally(late spring, summer and fall) Additionally, the property has a wonderful system of walking trails as well as multiple fire pits and all kinds of lovely places to explore. If you are interested in taking advantage of these facilities please ask! **Important Notes** This is a RURAL LOCATION. We have felt that some guests are not prepared for certain realities of country life, and we want to make sure our guests are happy and feel like they are getting the experience they anticipated. So here are a few points to note: Our property is located at the end of a mile-long gravel driveway. It is accessible to 2WD vehicles, even in the rain—we promise. However, if you are not accustomed to driving on such roads, our spot may not be a good fit for you. Rural infrastructure is finnicky—especially the internet. We do provide wifi in guest areas as well as common spaces, but it is not lightning fast and it is prone to occasional lapses. Please keep this in mind if you are planning on working remotely from your rental. Guest access This unit is a private bedroom in our small newly remodeled and renovated farm house. One of your hosts may sleep and spend their time in this house. At certain times of the year guests may have this house all to themselves. In addition to their private room, guests will have access to a bathroom, kitchen and living room in this farm house. We have almost completed a full remodel of the guest house that includes a full modern kitchen, all new wooden floors throughout insulation upgrade and the installation of a wood fireplace for heating the living room. This will allow us to have guests in the winter months. Please understand that this is still rustic living. There is not a thermostat that you just turn up to get heat. Guests also have access to a full kitchen which is shared with the hosts, and are welcome to enjoy common spaces in the main common building as well as any of our outdoor spaces. Please keep this in mind if you are planning on working remotely from your rental. In the winter months, it is likely that guests will need a 4 wheel drive to negotiate the driveway. If there is no snow and ice there will not be a problem. Snow and ice make the driveway difficult to access without a four wheel drive vehicle. We have numerous animals—a dog, four cats, a horse, and a small flock of chickens. The cats, dog, and chickens are generally free to roam about the property, so be prepared for this. Our dog can be anxious around new people so please do not pet him when you first arrive, even if he seems friendly.
