However, snow chains or four-wheel drive are still an advantage in the Alps during this time of year. Shopping facilities are available down in the valley in Uttendorf (17 km), where you'll find everything you need! Leisure activities: Not far from your lodge is a reservoir, which unfortunately isn't suitable for swimming. Down in the valley, the Uttendorf bathing lake offers plenty of water fun. Children will enjoy the children's area with its slide, while adults can play tennis or try stand-up paddleboarding. Popular destinations in the area include the Krimml Waterfalls, the highest waterfalls in Europe, and the Sigmund Thun Gorge, the perfect place for an easy yet impressive hike through the canyon. In winter, just 500 meters from the chalet, the picturesque "Weißsee Glacier World" ski area awaits guests of all ages: beginners and experienced skiers alike will find expansive slopes, while ski tourers can enjoy the snow-covered Alps. Until approximately 2027, there may be some disruption due to a construction site 600 meters away. A hydroelectric power plant is being built inside the mountain. The work is taking place inside the mountain, so our guests in the Tauerndorf will not be disturbed by construction noise.
