Description

Vintage two story cabin on 5 acres.. Years of remodeling, but never losing the charm of all the wood and re purposed building products. Cabin is full of antiques and books. Our love for heritage plants, trees, flowers and big black boulders is everywhere in the landscape. Property is home to many deer, birds, chipmunks, rabbits . History of place is very important and we gladly share with all who visit Torrey cabin and surrounding area.. The space A long winding driveway offers privacy and ample parking space. Folks with motorcycles, cars or bicycles have access to a covered parking area. There is special parking for folks with horse trailers and other recreation vehicles on request. We are always available in person or by telephone (435-491-0026) also there is an extensive cabin handbook in the cabin. There are many brochures and extensive articles and books about the area also in the cabin. The cabin was built about 35 years ago, but has a rustic appearance. We have added two new trex type decks in the last few years along with many other features. The best entrance is the backporch, which is closest to the parking. There is a small mudroom with lots of room for extra clothes, boots, coolers and backpacks. This connects to the kitchen, although small.. it packs lots of cabinets and places to store kitchen needs. It is fully stocked with all kinds of pots, pans, dishes, silverwear, towels.. Plus, a wonderful view out the window to the East and the Henry Mountains.. The kitchen is open to the dining room which has a round table and can seat 4 or with the leaf 6. There are tablecloths and napkins to match the season or your taste. Kitchen connects to the living room which has both a leather sofa and love seat along with matching ottoman. There are several lamps for reading. There is a television and a Cd/Radio in the living room area. WIFI signal is throughout the house and folks often stream movies from Amazon and Netflex. The stairwell to the second floor is narrow, but enclosed with handrail. At the top of the stairs is another bookshelf with even more books for your enjoyment. There are two bedrooms upstairs, the master has one queen bed with a small deck facing the Boulder Mountains and South. A Dormer window to the East lets you know when the sun is coming up, but there is a nice drape in case you want to sleep in. A larger TV is in the master bedroom. There is a door from the master to the bathroom which is shared by the other bedroom with its own entry door. The upstairs bathroom has a vintage claw foot bath tub and a lavender sink and toilet. There is lots of counter space and tons of towels. Because the bathroom is in the sloping eve, the headroom slants low for tall folks.. The other upstairs bedroom has two twin beds and is decorated with lots of vintage hats and petty coats. Two windows face West. The cabin is exactly one mile from the center of Torrey. This is an easy walk or bike to the Torrey Post Office, general store, art galleries and several restaurants. Guest access Guests have access to whole cabin with the exception of the laundry room. Special arrangements can be made to use laundry facility. There are also several places in Bicknell and Torrey. There is a fenced in area around the cabin which has a beautiful red rock patio with a gas grill and lots of outdoor seating. Other things to note For more detailed travel and trails info. We have a large visitor center located at the junction of Highway 12 and 24. They have lots of free brochures and maps and some knowledgeable folks. Capitol Reef National Park has an amazing visitor center located on Highway 24 just about 12 miles from the cabin. They have information about all of your park interests and a great natural history store with nice books and gifts. Inside the park is the Historic Gifford House with more great pioneer history items and great pie and home made ice cream..
