Charming country house located in a historic building overlooking the famous abbey of San Galgano. It is located between the Abbey of San Galgano and the Chapel of Montesiepi, where the legendary Sword in the Stone is kept. La Capella was built around the same period as the adjacent Romanesque Church of Montesiepi, and was to become a convent. Much later it came to be used for civil purposes. The owners have since restored the building, respecting the original structure but also in keeping with the expectations of the modern tourist. La Cappella, so tastefully reconstructed according to Tuscan style and atmosphere, fits in beautifully within the historic and artistic environment that surrounds it. The momentous doorway, gives way to a double staircase leading to the spacious terrace above, from which one can admire views in every direction - the enchanting panorama or, by night, the vision of the Cistercian Abbey illuminated. One could also take a swim in the private pool 8seasonal opening)or simply enjoy the relaxation of open air living. The historic Portico of the Convent, unchanged since 1250, with a Stone Well and an Oven used by the Friars to bake the day's bread is today still perfectly functional. All of this combined with the owners' warm hospitality make La Cappella a favourite holiday residence for a select and demanding clientele. The Chapel of Montesiepi is just behind La Cappella. It is a very famous spot in Italy, much frequented by tourists coming to see the Sword in the Stone, and is especially popular for weddings. We are sure that as guests of this enchanting place you will appreciate its historical and religious background. Therefore it seems fair from our behalf to inform you that a service is celebrated in the church every Sunday from 11.00/11.30 to 12.00/12.30. Within those hours we kindly ask you to keep any noises to a decent level. On ground floor: a kitchen (oven, cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher); a spacious living/dining room with French door leading to the garden, where the pool is located; a toilet. On the first floor there is a spacious living/dining room with sofa and arm-chairs in front of the fireplace and satellite tv; a well equipped kitchen (oven, cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher); a main double bedroom (queen size bed) and a twin bedroom share the shower bathroom with a small bath; a double bedroom (queen size bed) with ensuite shower bathroom; a twin bedroom with two panoramic windows and ensuite shower room. Fourteen steps from the first floor lead to the double bedroom (queen size bed) and bathroom with shower. The two large sitting rooms provide ample space for enjoying lunch or just lounging around. The two comfortable kitchens are furnished with every modern appliance. From the garden there is the access to a nice studio apartment with double bedroom (queen size bed), small kitchen corner (2 electric plates, fridge and dishwasher) with fireplace; one shower bathroom. Other things to note When the house is rented for 10 people, the studio apartment in the garden is locked; if rented for 8 people the studio and one the villa bedrooms will be locked.
