Peaceful setting in spectacular Omena, Leelanau County with a short drive to Sutton's Bay, Northport and Leland. Ground floor studio w/ outside private entrance, large private yard & 2 minute walk to Omena Bay (Lk. Michigan) and our small lake across the street. Walk to Knot Just a Bar, Leelanau Cellars, V Gallery & Omena Country store. Seasonal listing, open late May to mid Oct. Minimum 2 nights, holidays -3. Private car necessary to get around. Enough parking for small boat w/ trailer. The space We resided in Nairobi, Kenya for 14 years and our studio decor exhibits the flavor of East Africa as well as one of our other favorite destinations - Costa Rica. Kitchenette includes a full size fridge, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, drip style coffee maker, electric kettle, dishes, utensils - NO STOVE, COOKTOP or OVEN. Gas grill with utensils and grill pan is on the patio. All linens are provided except beach towels. Private patio with table & chairs for your use as well as our large back yard. You are welcome to take our path across the street to the small inland lake. Enjoy a morning coffee or happy hour in the gazebo, or take out our peddle boat at your own risk. There is a second fire pit there as well. A 5 minute walk takes you to "downtown" Omena. Outdoor and indoor dining on Omena Bay at The Knot, or wine tasting at Leelanau Cellars. The Omena Bay Country Store carries your basics, beer, wine & spirits, take out coffee and sandwiches too. If you are feeling artsy check out the V gallery which now fills the old Tamarack Gallery space. Or check out the Omena museum open on weekend afternoons and learn about the interesting history of our little village. A two minute walk down our private path will take you to the Omena Public Beach with swimming etc. Guest access Studio is a ground floor unit with off street parking, private entrance and electronic keypad. Come and go at your leisure. Our space overlooks our large private back yard with fire pit and a wooded area that belongs to the church next door. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate wheelchairs as doorways are not wide enough and it is not a barrier free bathroom. We also own the lot across the street on Moughey Lake - a small inland lake fun for kayaking, SUPs, or small non motorized boat, along with a fire pit and gazebo for your morning coffee or a sundowner with some bird watching. Looking for some exercise? Walk out the door and enjoy the beautiful 4 mile (or portion thereof) loop aon Omena Point Rd. Walk or bike this scenic loop - paved, wooded, mostly shaded with little to no traffic. Or, drive over to Suttons Bay and head out on the TART Trail or enjoy a day in Glen Arbor with some hiking / biking on the Heritage Trail. Other hiking areas can be found on The Leelanau Conservancy web site. The patio includes a table & chairs, extra chairs to move around the yard as desired and a gas grill. A quick 2 minute walk down a private path takes you to Lake Michigan and the Omena public beach. Looking for some exercise? Walk out the door and enjoy the beautiful 4 mile (or portion thereof) loop around our area. Walk or bike this scenic road - paved, wooded, mostly shaded with little to no traffic. Other things to note Sorry, our studio is not suitable for infants and toddlers. Our studio is limited to a MAXIMUM of 2 people. No unregistered overnight guests allowed. Our studio does NOT have a stove or oven. This is intentional as we wish to keep food cooking odors out of the curtains, beddings and furniture. Also there are no laundry facilities on site, however there is a nice laundromat 10 minutes away in Sutton's Bay in the same plaza as the Hansons Foods grocery store. We always use hot water and laundry soap without dyes and perfumes to wash all towels and bedding. Also no dryer sheets are used. Please help us keep our space scent free for all guests by not using personal colognes, perfumes, strongly scented soap, essential oils etc. NO marijuana use on the property.
