Pipeline Chalet kunanyi / Mt Wellington is an architect designed residence, with privacy and a spectacular mountain environment on your doorstep, just 15 minutes from Hobart's CBD. The kitchen has stone benches with stools and a gas cooktop with all the utensils to cook up a hearty meal. A king bed in the mezannine and a sofa bed in the lounge sleeps 4. There is a smart TV with WiFi included, with forest and nature immediately outside and a sun drenched outdoor living space. The space Pipeline Chalet is located on kunanyi / Mt Wellington at 550 metres above sea level right next to the Wellington Park State Reserve. There are wonderful walking tracks on our doorstep as well as the Pipeline Track itself which is a spectacular historical gateway around the back of the Mountain to Wellington Falls and the North West River. The Chalet has a mezzanine loft with a king bed with views up to the Mountain and the forest surrounding this space. There is a sofa bed in the lounge room below suitable for 2 persons (preferably children). The Chalet is effectively one large living space with a mezzanine and hence is most suited to a couple, or a couple with young children. The kitchen is decked out with stone benchtops, a gas cooktop and laundry in one space. There is a sun drenched outdoor living area with views direct to Mt Wellington pinnacle, as well as a wrap around deck facing north to capture the views, sun and birdlife at our doorstep. There is a smart TV with free streaming and wi-fi included, amid a living room heated by a heat pump with ambient lighting around the ply ceiling. There is no laundry or washing machine available, wit a laundromat nearby in South Hobart (the Lost Sock). The Chalet has a private entrance along a forested walk from a secure car park to the Chalet - with wildlife specific to the Mountain on your doorstep - from the Paddymelon to an amazing range of endemic birds of the Mountain including the Black Parrot, Green Parrot and the shy Wattle Bird. Guests need to be prepared to carry their luggage from the car park to the Chalet along the garden path and several steps, approximately 50 metres. There is a local hotel (The Fern Tree Tavern) which features a cosy fire place and serves meals, as well as the famous Longley Hotel just 20 minutes further along Huon Road from the Chalet. Other local restuarants recommended include Vanidols (South Hobart), The Salty Dog Hotel Kingston Beach (right on the waterfront), The Beach (Blackmans Bay) and Franks (Sullivans Cove). We are only 30 minutes from Huonville and Franklin, the gateway to the Southern Forests, Cockle Creek and walks to the South West Wilderness. Cygnet and the Channel area is also nearby offering a wide range of food and wine experiences. The Chalet has been designed by architect Ben Redmond. Guest access Guests have full access to the Chalet - they are welcome to access the vegetable garden and surrounding gardens and the path to the Pipeline Track so they can walk or cycle on the Mountain. The Pipeline Track is located immediately below the Chalet - access to the Pipeline Track is available by walking back down the road 100 metres or by a walk along the garden path under the deck and follow the path down to the Pipeline Track. There are wonderful walks up and across the Mountain available - just head to the Silver Falls and follow the signs (the Springs is only a 30 minutes walk). There is a map of kunanyi / Mt Wellington walking tracks in the Chalet. Access to the Chalet is via a garden path that leads to the Chalet behind our primary residence. This path has several steps and it is approximately 50 metres walk to the Chalet. The path is lit with garden lights at night time. Other things to note The nightly price is based on 2 persons.
