House on the Costa Vicentina with pool

Born from a project to rehabilitate an agricultural ruin from the beginning of the 20th century, Monte Azedão is the realization of an old dream. Built using traditional methods such as rammed earth, it was designed as a family vacation home between the immensity of the Alentejo and the proximity of the beaches of the Costa Vicentina. Designed to be as autonomous as possible, this house has a strong sustainable character. The space This Monte is located on the Costa Vicentina, between Vila Nova de Milfontes, Almograve and Zambujeira do Mar. It has a total area of 380 m2, a reserved character and is inserted in a 2 Ha plot. It is divided into three main spaces: the night house houses the four suites; in the day house, there are the living and dining rooms, the kitchen and the patio with a shed. The third volume of the hill receives the saltwater pool and the Jacuzzi. Accessible from all parts of the house, a large grassy garden ends in a vegetable garden, where fresh fruits and vegetables can be harvested daily. Monte Azedão is in the middle of the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, so it was necessary to respect very strict rules in its recovery. The choice to use traditional materials, techniques and solutions in this area was immediate. As well as the effort to make this space as welcoming, intimate and comfortable as possible. The wide rammed earth walls make the house much more efficient than we are used to, but on colder days, the radiant floor and fireplace eliminate the cold. Partially autonomous from an energy point of view, the autonomous character of this construction was valued to the maximum, which includes solar heating of bath water, domestic waste treatment or drinking water treatment. All rooms have a toilet and a private patio. Of the four suites, three have a double bed and one with 2 bunk beds (ideal for children). Dining room - with fireplace - and living room. Fully equipped kitchen. Terrace with tables for 10 people. Barbecue and wood-fired oven. Pantry with additional refrigerator and freezer. Dishwashers and washing machines and all the small appliances and utensils that can make life easier for those who cook or prepare meals are available. Due to its size and characteristics, Monte Azedão is especially suitable for groups or large families to spend their vacations in tranquility and in the isolation they choose to have.
