Born from a project for the rehabilitation of an agricultural ruin of the beginning of the 20th century, Monte Azedão is the fulfillment of an ancient dream. Built using traditional methods such as taipa, it was designed as a family holiday home between the immensity of the Alentejo and the proximity of the beaches of the Costa Vicentina. Designed to be as autonomous as possible, this house has a strong sustainable character. The space Este Monte is located on the Costa Vicentina, between Vila Nova de Milfontes, Almograve and Zambujeira do Mar. It has a total area of 380 m2, a reserved character and is inserted in land of 2 Ha. It is divided into three main spaces: the night house houses the four suites; in the house by day there are the living and dining rooms, the kitchen and the patio with a big room. The third volume of the hill receives the salt water pool and the jacuzzi. Accessible from all parts of the house, a large lawn garden ends in a vegetable garden where you can harvest fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Monte Azedão is in the heart of the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, so you had to respect very strict rules in its recovery. The option to use materials and techniques and traditional solutions from this area was immediate. As well as the effort to make this space as welcoming, intimate and comfortable as possible. The wide walls in taipa make the house much more efficient than we are accustomed to, but in the cold days, the radiant floor and fireplace eliminate the cold. Partly autonomous from an energetic point of view, the autonomous nature of this construction, which goes through the solar heating of the bath water, the domestic treatment of waste or the treatment of drinking water was as much as possible. All rooms have a toilet and a private patio. Of the four suites, three have a double bed and one with 2 bunk beds (ideal for children). Dining room - with a fireplace - and a living room. Kitchen fully equipped. Terrace with tables for 10 people BBQ and brick oven. Pantry with additional fridge and freezer. Dishwashers and laundry machines and all the small appliances and utensils that can make life easier for those who cook or prepare meals are at their disposal. Because of its size and characteristics, Mount Azedão is especially suitable for large groups or families to spend vacations in tranquility and the isolation they choose to have.
