The name of this ancient 17th century building comes from its position, “Tower in the Sky”; from here one can admire a fantastic panorama over the Valtiberina and the Tuscan hills. Torre del Cielo was originally a lookout guard tower, built about the first half of the * by Ferdinand II of the Medici, used by a small group of soldiers to guard against the arrival of the enemy. Its position is about 2,5 kms from Monterchi, the last piece of the land of the Granduke of Tuscany, close to the Papal State and world famous for its frescoes by Piero della Francesca the Madonna del Parto. In * Francesco Rosadi (the year of construction is sculptered on the ground floor fireplace), the grandfather of the actual owner, extended the tower, giving it the form and the dimension that we can admire today. The”villa” has recently been restored, maintaining all the characteristics of a typical Tuscan country house. The villa has a big swimming pool (depth 150 cm, 6x12 mts), for moments of refreshing relaxation in the summer season. The pool is surrounded by sunbeds, umbrellas and a gazebo for enjoying the summer in total privacy. There are roses, lavanda and rosemary which fill the air with delightful, typical Tuscan perfumes, very difficult to forget.
