Description
Views of the Siuslaw River, coastal mountains on both sides. Two bedrooms and bath on the main floor, finished attic with three twin beds, two living areas, and basement. There are two houses on this property and another cabin next door. All are independen,t free-standing houses and can be rented together or separately. The house was built in the 50's and still has a "cabin" feel. Cozy and spacious for a family. The space The entire back of the river house looks out over the Siuslaw river, and has a wonderful wrap-around deck for enjoying the sights and sounds of the river while you sip your coffee. The House and Cottage sit on the same property, and we own the cabin next door. The properties are long and narrow and all the houses are up close to the river, in a triangle format. Each house is independent, so only grassy areas and river bank are shared. There is no cell service at the houses, but we ahve Starlink wifi (speeds over 100mbps) and each house has a landline phone. The river valley where the houses sit is very narrow, so cell service is spotty all over the area. But what it lacks in cell service, it makes up for in views. Guest access The house is all yours. Only green space and riverfront is shared by all guests. There are dedicated parking areas for each house, with plenty of room for several cars. The driveway is large enough to accommodate an RV or ATV trailers, if you're planning on riding the dunes. We have over 150 ft of river bank, an island to explore in the middle of the river and lots of rocks, crawdads and fish to find. Other things to note If you are traveling with children, we recommend bringing along life jackets. During the summer, the river is slow and shallow enough to wade across (with one small deeper current in the middle). In the winter/spring, the river can be swift and deep - depending on rainfall. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the main level, a finished attic upstairs, where there are three twin beds. The stairs are steep, which might not be ideal for everyone. The basement has full laundry and can be accessed from the outside in the event of really wet kids :) There is only one bathroom in this house, which is why we limit the number of guests to six (on a septic system). The kitchen does not have a dishwasher or oven, but has a full stove, and a microwave that is also a convection oven, as well as a large counter-top toaster/convection oven. Between the two, you can easily bake a large lasagna and a pie with no trouble. Mapleton is a very small town on the Siuslaw River, nestled in between two mountains, Cell service is minimal, but there is wifi at the house and a landline. This is an ideal spot for fishing, a great base for day trips to the beach (15 miles to Florence), or just a spot to have some quality family time. Each of the houses can be rented together or independently. All the properties out there are long and narrow with the houses up by the river, so the other houses and neighbors are closer than some guests expect. Our three houses are in a triangle formation, with each house facing the river, with no direct line of sight into any other house. A little side note - the houses are on a well and septic system. The water can smell like sulfur sometimes, which is a little weird for folks who are not used to well water - and even though it is perfectly fine to drink, we keep bottled water on hand for those who prefer it.
