The Temple of Isis is the largest and oldest interfaith sanctuary dedicated to the Sacred Feminine in North America. We believe that all genuine offerings of the human heart are accepted by the Divine. Our sanctuary is the oldest modern spiritual community outside the California Missions. It was established in 1880 as the north american center from the Baha'i faith, they left in 1974. From 1974 - 1976 this site was the home of the only Cannabis commune in the USA, founded and led by Dennis Peron, Godfather of the Medical Cannabis movement. From 1976, Our temple was founded by well known beatnik and enamel artist Loreon Vigne as a sanctuary for all souls. During our time here, we have played host to artists like Andy Warhol, The Velvet Underground and the Grateful Dead. Today we operate as a wildlife sanctuary and a transitional housing program to help all souls in need.
