Bijoux Hut & Communal Amenities in Todmorden

The place is a (very) little hut, insulated but not heated(!) in the woods next to my own home which I am in the process of building by hand. It's basic, clean (as clean as a hut in the woods ever is) and simple. Please read the description carefully. This is not Glamping, I'm afraid. The space The cabin itself is small and basic. There are two single beds, with comfy memory foam mattresses with sheets, pillows and duvets provided. There are also two chairs and a folding table which can be set up inside or out on the deck (but please don't leave them out in the rain.) There is no electricity in the hut, but I provide a battery lamp. There is electricity in the entryway to the house if you need to charge a phone or something, and you can stick stuff in the fridge in there if you need to. The toilet is a composting toilet in the entryway to my house, about 30 yards from the hut. There is a sink with hot and cold running water. There is *no shower* at present, I'm afraid, though Todmorden has a lovely council-run leisure centre with pool and great facilities, I reckon you could blag your way in for a shower if you really needed one. Also, there's a beach up the hill, search "Gaddings Dam". The site is a self-built house inhabited by me, my partner, my cat and any other volunteers who are on site at the time. This place is pretty unique and is not a glamourous B&B but a safe, fun, interesting place to check out, especially if you have an interest in natural self-build. Guest access You'll have a private bedroom, which is the very small hut in the woods pictured in the photos, with a small deck attached. You'll also have shared access to the (composting) toilet and bathroom sink in the main house. I recommend arriving in daylight hours so you can see the layout of the site, since the amenities are all in different places on a fairly tumbling build site with quite a few trip hazards. During your stay I live on site with my partner, so I am likely to be around to greet you when you arrive and answer any questions. I will be here working from home most days. There might be other people here during your stay, as I've got volunteers on site some of the time. Other things to note Please note that this is not a Glamping site. The hut is insulated but unheated, so in chilly weather you can borrow hot water bottles, but please dress warmly. Bring a torch for getting to and from the hut in the dark. Facilities on site might be considered "basic". There is no shower, and the toilet is a composting toilet, which might take some getting used to if you have never used one, although I've been told by more than one person it's the nicest composting loo they've ever used. If you are the sort of person who likes backwoods, off-grid camping, you will be fine.
