Description

Yurt living is the perfect blend of camping, but with the comfort of being at home. It's wonderful being so close to nature, among the elements and yet so enveloped and protected from them at the same time. You'll love it. Now located at Branch Farm in the popular village of Mells up a long private driveway, the yurt is situated in the orchard nestled amongst the cherry and apple trees. A seasonal stream runs nearby and you share the space only with the pheasants which roost in the branches. The space The yurt is a cosy tardis-like single space, tucked away in the orchard in your own part of Branch Farm. It has one double sofa bed and two single pull-out beds, perfect for a family of four. The wood burner heats the yurt, which is insulated with a layer of wool - keeping it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Outside, you have a sheltered picnic bench, a bbq, a double hammock, and a private toilet. The new showers are a short walk away and will give you an excuse to have a nose around the farm. There are other units on site (bell tents, horseboxes, a cottage, and even a tree house). Bedding is provided, along with extra blankets. Cutlery / crockery, a gas stove with pots and pans, and an electric cool-box are all included, along with some wood for the fire (you can buy more on site if you run out). The yurt has electricity and internet access. Guest access The village of Mells, which dates back to the 11th century, is thought to be one of the prettiest in Somerset and is a 15 minute walk away. It has an award-winning pub, the Talbot Inn, a village shop and cafe, a church, and many historic buildings. The yurt is located five minutes drive from Babington House and 30 minutes from the Roman city of Bath. Wells, Glastonbury, Bristol, Cheddar Gorge, Longleat and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive away. Parking is free on-site in the car park. You're welcome to try to park closer to the yurt, but please be aware that in the wetter seasons we might ask you not to in order to keep the grass from getting too compacted and muddy. Other things to note The Woodland Yurt has moved for 2021! Now located at Branch Farm in the lovely village of Mells. Please note all reviews prior to 2021 are for the previous location (Field 725 campsite). The yurt now has it's own private toilet :) By the way, it's actually a Mongolian style ger, not a yurt. Most people know them as yurts.
