Description

Spacious, tranquil, a bespoke Mid Century Ranch style home situated on 1000 acres of protected Connecticut farmland. A backyard private pool (May through end of September) and un swimmable pond. Close to Storrs, Mansfield, UCONN, Eastern State, Mohegan Casino. A simple space with light and privacy, view of fields and sky. The space Northeastern Connecticut has a little known heritage known as "The Last Green Valley", there are things to do, and history embedded in unlikely places. Getting here is by car, bus and train service difficult. It is three hours to NYC, 2 to Boston, a half hour or one hour to ocean beaches, a quick hour to the Connecticut River Valley. This part of Connecticut is not tourist oriented; there are things to do, but you do need to drive a bit to get to them. The house is situated on hundreds of acres of protected farmland. No farm animals on the premises. The backyard view is a small swamp/pond, farm fields, open sky. The pool is non-heated. June and July and August, the water temperature is fine. This house sleeps 6. Fantastic place for friends getting together for an individualized yoga retreat, small family reunions, couples who want a whole house, family gatherings. Great for those who enjoy an off the beaten path destination, or want a country setting without being totally backwoods. A simple house with light and views. Guest access Pool opens May Strong Wifi for zoom schooling or remote work. Whole house. No one else has access to the house while you are there. Towels, soap, and shampoo all provided. Everything in the fridge and cupboards is yours to enjoy. There is a grill on the back porch by the pool. Plenty of backyard space for sports, bring your badminton, croquet sets for backyard fun. Charter Spectrum TV and Wifi, and a smart 70” TV. HDMI cables here. If you are a runner, fabulous local runs if you head out of the driveway and to the right, and then at the end of the road, a left. The lone tree you see in the field in the west is depicted on the back of the Connecticut Quarter, as an emblem of the Charter Oak of the Constitution. The artist who designed the Quarter used this tree as a model. Other things to note Induction cooking, cookware is in the house, but if you bring stovetop cookware, it must be magnet ready. The house has well water from a 500 foot deep well with reverse osmosis filtering; no need to bring plastic water bottles as you can have spring fed filtered water from the tap.
