Description

We created this dwelling specifically to host guests from all over the world. Protea Park is a magical place, very peaceful and full of animal life from birds through to horses. As our guest you are free to wander the farm and enjoy the beauty of nature. There is a second holiday cottage on the property and we are on site to help if you have any queries or would just like to engage. The space Walking around our farm anytime of day is good for your soul. It’s always interesting to observe the birds and see what the horses are up to. If you are keen on fitness you can run; the terraces of flowers offer varying degrees of elevation to keep the heart pumping. Guest access Protea Park is a 30 acre farm dedicated mainly to growing King Protea Flowers for the export market. Horses fit in well around the flowers as do rabbits, hares, pheasants, ducks, frogs, hedgehogs and many other creatures. As our guest you are free to wander the property and share the magic. The chalet is our second holiday accommodation and we ask you to respect the privacy of guests who may be in the cottage. It's only a short drive to the beaches, Henderson Bay, Rarawa or Houhora Heads and a little bit longer (20 mins) to the dramatic 90 mile beach. There is a swimmng pool at Houhora Heads where kids can swim safely for $2. Cape Reinga is 60 kilometres away on fully sealed roads and you can take side trips to Tapotupotu, Spirits Bay, Te Hapua and many more or you can ride the sand dunes at Te Paki. If golf is your thing, the Houhora Golf club is just 5 kms up the road. It's the northernmost club in NZ, has 9 holes and is a great place to meet like minded folk. Beaches and forests offer walking opportunities for the more active holiday maker with many keen trampers now doing the famous Te Araroa Trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Other things to note This is a great place for a family holiday. Kids can explore the farm while parents relax
