Other things to note Ideally placed off the beaten track between the historic marble mines of Carrara with fabulous walks in the Apuane mountain range on the one side, and the Golfo Dei Poeti with Lerici, San Terenzo, Portovenere and the Cinque Terre beyond on the other, both visible from our spectacular upper terrace. Be aware that a car is strongly recommended. The road up to the house is quite narrow and the asphalt has potholes, so take it easy and admire the views! The garden, car park and surrounding land is fully fenced and dog-friendly. Grapes, figs, lemons, kiwis, olives and other fruits are available from the garden in season. It is a 20-minute drive to the nearest beach with a car park and about an hour's walk. It takes about 40 minutes by car to the Cinque Terre.
