The 1910 barn/photo studio on our property is the available Airbnb space. Unique, private and unusual. Accommodate up to four. The space My husband Tyler and I are newly married and are the new owners of this beautiful country haven in the city. We are in constant contact with the previous homeowner, and Superhost, Michael, and aim to provide the same stellar stay he'd been keeping up for so many years :) My mother-in-law, Jaye, will be hosting guests until we are moved into the house in September. You will have access to me as well as my mother-in-law during that time. Our home is on the property - we would appreciate if you could keep noise down after 9pm if possible. Our property sits on over 5 acres in the heart of Kenosha - less than ten minutes from downtown, but tucked away enough to make you feel like you're deep in the country. A fine little town right between Chicago and Milwaukee. There are 3 levels to the barn: The living quarters, the studio, and the bedroom. Please note that this amounts to two sleeping areas (see descriptions below) - not 2 bedrooms. The first level houses the living room/lounge area, dinette area, kitchenette, and full bathroom. The living room has cable TV, a DVD player and a HDMI cable if you want to use your computer to watch something. There is a full-sized hide-a-bed with a memory foam topper in the living room that sleeps 1. The kitchenette has a sink, a small fridge, a coffee maker, and a microwave/convection oven/air fryer combo - perfect for crisping up delicious Kenosha takeout. No soggy leftovers! The second level is a wonderfully spacious studio with plenty of lighting and backdrops if you're feeling inspired to do your very own impromptu photoshoot! The studio can be utilized for professional photography shoots for a small additional fee. Bluetooth option is available for the stereo system. It rocks - lots of great sound to fill the space, so bring your tunes with you to enjoy! Please note that the spiral staircase leading to the 2nd and 3rd floor is difficult to traverse for most pets (not many can go up or down safely), and can pose a safety hazard for your pet. Please keep this in mind if you are bringing a pet (pending approval) with you. Please note that approval does not mean that we know how well your pet may or may not be able to handle the steps. Their safety is your responsibility as each pet is different, and we would not be able to tell how well they might fare. The third/top level houses a large bedroom with a comfortable lounge area, a queen-sized bed that sleeps 2, and work desk. I am not a believer in using poisonous insecticides and making for a toxic environment, so might see a bug or two. After all it is a barn and is surrounded by trees, nature and natural wildlife such as flowers, bushes, trees, birds, bees, and insects, etc. If finding an insect would bother you, or if you are severely allergic to pollen or bees, we recommend you be prepared. Although we are meticulous and thorough, we cannot promise the space will be entirely free of these things. Living in a "Country in the City" comes with the beauty of nature and all it has to offer, so we accept these small things as part of the wonderful life we have. Please keep this in mind as if this could potentially be an issue, this may not be the place for you. There is a hammock in the yard and gas grill available for our guests so feel free to bring what you wish to cook on the grill and just relax outside. There is quite a lot of shopping as well as local events in the Kenosha area. Less than an hour away from Chicago, Milwaukee and Lake Geneva and just a few minutes from Lake Michigan. We are always happy to make suggestions. While the listing does say 3, the space could accommodate more. However, it might be a bit too cozy for some. We will be upgrading sleeping capacity once we move in to the main house. There does seem to be some confusion on the AC - there is air conditioning in the barn. I have 3 units, however I do not run them all the time unless guests want to run them. Most people seem to enjoy the open breeze- we are only about 1/3 of a mile from the lake so we are usually cool. Currently we have no horses on the property. However If you are allergic to horses, this place may still be a problem for you, as the stable is right on site and can agitate allergic reactions. If you have allergies the barn may be an issue and you may not want to book it or bring your allergy medicine. Guest access While our home is on the property, the barn/studio is separate from our main house and has its own entrance. Other things to note This space is a work in progress. It is unique and an artist's space. As the space continues to evolve we will update with photos as well. We allow pets, but please be sure to ask first. Pets must be potty-trained and well-behaved. They must also be able to be left alone (calm and not barking or causing damage) when you're in the space or if and when you leave to sightsee or go out. Please ensure that pets relieve themselves outdoors and that you clean up after them. We do not charge extra for pets, however, if they become a noise nuisance, they are not cleaned up after, or they cause any damage to the property, there will be an additional fee of $100 on top of the cost to repair the damage. The space has a 20 gallon water heater so showers may need to be planned accordingly if there are more than two people looking to shower.
