Description

The Mews, TREGREHAN GARDEN COTTAGES, is the perfect retreat for two. Cosy and welcoming at any time of the year with a log burner for winter breaks and a private, sunny garden with sea views. Stepped in history and dramatic landscape, Tregrehan Garden Cottages sit privately in a serene location of garden, parkland and fields, ideally located for a day out to many great attractions nearby and a joy to get home too in the evenings. Staff and family are about should you like to chat. The space The Mews is an open-plan, spacious, ground floor apartment in the Old Stables (a Grade II listed building) on the South Cornwall coast. The original stable partitioning wall separates the king bed from the living area. The old tack rail still hangs in the large modern shower-room. Settle in front of the wood-burner in winter after your coastal walk; wood provided free from the woods. Relax in your sunny walled garden with a book and BBQ, disturbed only by drumming woodpeckers of early spring and summers’ fledgling swallows. Explore beyond the walled labyrinth of the old grain mill and Tregrehan kitchen garden to experience the extraordinary woodland tree collection covering 20ha. Park in the cobbled courtyard over which carriages and horses relayed many generations of Carlyon family living in the main house nearby. High stone walls surrounding the kitchen walled garden, foot the towering trees of Tregrehan Garden beyond the courtyard. From the west the entrance drive passes under a lime tree alley through parkland and woodland. Many of Cornwall's great attractions are within 20 minutes by car or foot: the historic villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Charlestown, Cornwall’s Great Garden’s including the Eden Project and miles of exploration through woods and along coastal paths with shining seas and sandy beaches makes this a serene location. Guest access The Cottage has its own private garden with outdoor seating. Ample parking in the courtyard. Guests may wander freely in the Parkland. During the pandemic entry to Tregrehan Garden has been extended to all day Wednesday 10am to 4:30pm. Public access is in the afternoon. Other things to note Govt guidelines during the COVID~19 pandemic allow us in Cornwall to open our cottages from Saturday 4th July. We will follow the cleaning protocol advised by the national Tourism Alliances including effective cleaning systems to combat SARS-CoV-2 virus. We are fortunate with space in this extra-ordinary garden environment to allow you to freely explore the landscape in safety. Your cottage has a private garden and the surrounding parkland, garden and fields take you to the foot paths in the hills behind or to the coast a mile south. Crinnis Beach at Carlyon Bay and Vault Beach west of Gorran Haven are beautiful and very long beaches, ideal for social distancing. Luxulyan Valley by bike or on foot is magic! Occasionally we have public events at Tregrehan Garden including a Rare Plant Fair in May, the Tregrehan Garden Hill Climb ( end of June and mid-October), and Charity Open Garden events
