The parish, called in the 19th century by the name of Santa Cruz do Castelo, delimited by the Castle and its walls, keeps its original traits since its fundation and also survived the 1755 earthquake. The first reference of this area being inhabited remounts to 138 a.C., when the Tenth Junius Brutus, even before the establishment of the Roman Empire, ordered to fortify the roman colony Felicitas Julia (now Lisbon). The excavations that took place in 2014 for the reconstruction of Castle Inn revealed a great archaeological wealth sitting below the building As it is demanded nowadays, and with a great respect for the past, Castle Inn Lisbon was fully rebuilt with the best rehabilitation technics, and without forgeting the best acoustics and thermal isolations. The building is composed by 5 appartments, as it originally was, and it’s destined to short rental. All the appartments are decorated by artists with longtime connections with the Castle, inspired in Fado, Azulejo, Descobrimentos, Electrico Português e Tejo. Some of the appartments also have a view over Tejo river. Did you know that two of the great Fado artists were born and lived in the Castle neighborhood? In the ground floor you can find a restaurant, were once was a tavern, and a interior patio, formerly designated Pateo Chalet.
