Enjoy luxury living and Balinese hospitality in Ubud with Harvest Moon: - private pool - high-speed fibre-optic internet - free daily breakfast - close to Ubud, but far from the noise - soft beds, luxury linen, mosquito nets, and modern creature comforts - outdoor guest bedroom - Sunroom that doubles up as an office or lounging space for an extra guest Dutch designer Martje Nietzman is the brainchild behind Desa Bulan, a tranquil estate some 15 minutes south of Ubud. Nietzman designed this gorgeous two-storey private villa in a Balinese architectural style, seamlessly blending its chic interior with the natural environment outside. Lush gardens lead you towards Harvest Moon’s traditional thatched ‘Alung’ roof and trademark ultra-high ceilings. The west-facing villa enjoys picture-perfect views of the surrounding rice paddies and mountains, both of which are especially spectacular at sunset. Its spacious open-plan living and dining room features cozy, luxe furnishings and a crisp, white-washed interior design. Attached is a fully-equipped kitchen where you can whip up a delicious meal. The main bedroom resides on the ground floor and comes complete with air conditioning and a cushy European spring mattress on the bed. Attached is an enormous Balinese-style ensuite bathroom, where a luxe open-air shower sits below bamboo trees. Stepping outside the main bedroom leads directly onto the patio, which has a 14-metre lap pool to cool off on a hot afternoon. Plush outdoor sofas, loungers, and a hanging egg chair look out over lush gardens to add a sense of tranquillity to the space. The upstairs loft style bedroom connects to a private balcony with comfortable outdoor couches that overlook the pool and rice fields. A natural breeze comes in from the mountains and there’s a big ceiling fan to keep the room comfortably cool. The upstairs bedroom also comes with an attached bathroom featuring a glass encased solarium style space with a shower. You’ll also find a third glass roofed Balinese style full sized bathroom on the ground floor next to the dining space. A third and smaller al-fresco outdoor bedroom sits opposite the pool in the bale (Balinese Gazebo). Surrounded by soft mosquito netting, this unique space makes for a special spot to drift off to sleep while fully connected to the sounds of nature. The outdoor bathroom attached to the master bedroom can be accessed from the bale. We've built a cozy sun room above the bale which can serve as your office, a lounging space, a child's play room...or just a space to hang out in. The sofa in the sun room can be converted into a bed at night. The villa includes a friendly maid service and a daily tropical breakfast. Our on-site manager can arrange a variety of services on request: bike/motorbike hire, tourist information, childcare, massage, and spa. Harvest Moon is part of the serene ‘Desa Bulan’ (Moon Villas) estate, some four kilometres south of Ubud. The picturesque Balinese city is popular among travellers for its food, culture, and temples. Although you’ll enjoy utmost tranquility at the villa, many of Ubud’s top attractions are within easy reach: – Titi Batu Health and Wellness Club, 10 min walk – Yoga Barn, 3 km – Tegallalang Rice Terrace, 12 km – Bali Zoo, 6 km – Ubud, 15 min drive Every corner of Harvest Moon is exclusively yours to enjoy. Yudi is our onsite manager. You'll probably hear from him before you arrive via email. He is an experienced tour guide and knows the sights and special places of Ubud better than anyone. Ask him about a massage or a cooking class! The villa is located in the small village of Lodtunduh, around 3.5km from the center of Ubud. Stroll through its streets and pathways to catch a glimpse of everyday Balinese life. You’ll also find several cafes and eateries in the local area. Getting around is easy. We can arrange a driver to take you in to town or on tours, and if you're more adventurous a scooter is easy to hire. Ubud is just 3.5km away, and if you're really intent on doing nothing then all of the main restaurants will deliver to Harvest Moon Villa. Bali lies in the tropics, which is what makes it so humid and lush. Rather than rely on A/C (except for the main room), our villa features high ceilings and an open-plan design to cool the space. ***Insects and Wildlife*** Please note that since Harvest Moon is located right by the rice fields, when you stay with us, you are a guest in a home that has been built in harmony with nature’s delicate ecosystem. The rice fields are home to numerous critters like crickets, cicadas, grass hoppers, dragon flies, and over 100 species of birds. While their beautiful songs will help you drift to sleep at night and wake you up in the morning, they sometimes make their way inside. For the convenience of our guests, the villa is sprayed regularly to keep as many of the more pest-like bugs outdoors. We have also taken precautions to deter critters such as frogs and snakes with 24 hour ultrasonic sound barriers surrounding the villa. If you are used to city life and are not familiar with life in nature, please note that you may encounter insects like mosquitos, ants, bees, and spiders that are completely harmless. Geckos/Lizards are a common sight in Balinese homes and you may catch an occasional glimpse in the ceiling of the villa. If living next to nature isn't for you, please reconsider if Harvest Moon is the right place for your vacation. We offer our guests bug sprays, mosquito repellants, and an electronic insect zapper. All our doors and windows are also covered with mesh to keep insects away, especially at dusk. In the garden and pond, you may come across geckos and small frogs, which form a crucial part of the natural eco-system. As the villa resides in a rural area, a small amount of noise from rice farming and local temples may carry across the fields.
