Walk out the front door and splash in Lake Michigan, play on the beach, sink your toes into the sand and soak up the sun's rays. Or, if you're feeling more energetic, hit the lovely wooded trails to run, hike, bike or cross country ski. If you want to just stay at home, use the fully equipped kitchen to prepare a quick snack or a gourmet meal. Or choose a deep read or light fiction from our library. The choices are endless here at the beach house we call Captains Quarters. Our beach house is close to the Indiana Dunes State Park and the Indiana Dunes National Park. You’ll love it because of the views, the high ceilings, and the comfy beds. It is great place for a family with children or a couple looking for a sweet spot to getaway or friends to meet for a reunion. You will have exclusive use of the entire rental. You will not share it with the host or other guests. There is a fully equipped kitchen for cooking a gourmet meal or a light snack. While the cottage is fully winterized and heated there is also a wood burning stove available. On the spacious deck there is a large table for dining and a charcoal and gas grill for your exclusive use. I live in the neighbor and am available if you have any problems or have questions. We are located in the heart of the Indiana Dunes. The only thing between you and the lake is beach. We provide kayaks, standup paddleboards and other beach toys for your use. (All guests are required to sign a Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement prior to or on arrival).Northwest Indiana is known for it's beautiful beaches and shoreline. But, there are also beautiful trails in the Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore for biking, cross country skiing, hiking and birding and so much more. There are excellent restaurants of varying cuisine and prices ranges to meet your tastes and budget. We are just minutes from the South Shore Train station which will get you to Chicago or South Bend in an hour. Our rates go up in the summer. There is a 5% innkeeper's tax and a $185 cleaning fee that apply to all stays. There is a 7 night minimum stay in the summer and a 2 night minimum stay in the winter.
