Peaceful cabin in Chateauguay. Your private outdoor playground awaits! Cabin sits on the North Branch brook surrounded by pristine, ecological, mountains and woodlands. This is a rustic cabin and amenities are operated by a newly installed solar system, generator is backup only. The place is appointed with quaint décor, and the living space is draped in sunlight. It is a cozy, charming, and relaxing space in which you can chilllax to the max. Think candlelight and campfire! It is the perfect little getaway where you can unwind and soak up sights and sounds of the forest, brooks, and wildlife. Spend just a few minutes listening to the brook and the quiet will bring your soul back. This cabin is off grid intentionally. (Yup, it’s like losing your cell phone on purpose!) Founded in 2000 this retreat is meant to be a place to recreate, get back to nature and bond with friends and family. We want to share it with folks craving simplicity and getting back to the basics. Unwind from the outside world and reconnect with yourself or your loved ones and the natural world around you. If you need to explore beyond our 280 acres that you have to yourself those opportunities exist. Killington and Okemo are minutes away, historical Woodstock is close by and Long Trail Brewery is five minutes. We are also on the VAST and VASA trails so you can bring your toys! We do have jeeps and ATV's traveling by on the weekends. There is a kitchenette with a stove, refrigerator and pots and pans, utensils and basics like spices and condiments. Our indoor bathroom has running brook water for sink, toilet and shower. We ask that you enjoy the large outdoor shower during the warm months, it's a camp favorite! We heat with one Jotul propane stove in the living room and one wood stove in kitchen. A generator runs the water pump, electricity and Wifi, but you are encouraged to enjoy the peace and quiet of campfire and candlelight. Master bedroom is downstairs with pillow top queen. Upstairs in the loft is one full size bed and two twins (Note: you must be able to climb a loft ladder to access the loft). Two small bunks also provide additional sleeping space in loft. You’ll need to bring your own cooking and drinking water (1 gallons per person per day is usually enough) bedding and towels. You have access to the whole cabin. You'll have lots of privacy and no intrusions unless you want to warm up to the locals! We do have a couple of seasonal camps and a couple of year-rounders nearby so you are not totally isolated unless you want to be. A camp instructional manually is provided. Cell service is spotty in rural Vermont, but with or solar wifi on you have a landline for calling out. Code for check-in is provided under Arrival details - check in instructions. We own a second cabin down the road, and spend a great deal of time there during our rental season. We make ourselves available if there should be questions or issues, and we will stop and say hello if we see you out. The VAST and VASA trails go by the front door for your snowmobiling and ATVing pleasure. You are seven miles from Long Trail Brewery, and 15-18 miles from numerous tourist attractions in Killington and Woodstock that include golf, horseback riding, historical sites, boutique shopping and farm to table dining. Local lakes, private swimming holes, and river tubing are within an hour drive. Hike right from the cabin, or drive 12 miles to hikes along the Appalachian Trail, the Long Trail, or other gems. Our woodlands are comprised of 280 private acres of hiking and riding trails for exploring and they provide views, vistas, cliffs, hidden waterfalls and brooks galore. The surrounding Chateauguay wilderness is over 60,000 acres for additional exploration. Brookies can be fished from some awesome fishing holes and you can spend countless hours walking, biking, or riding on miles of quiet dirt roads. No crowds here - it’s like having a private national park at your disposal! We are easy to find, but not with your phone! You should definitely ask for written directions via email - GPS does not always work in the woods and has been known to send folks in to camp via some roads that are not passable in the off season. You need to bring bedding and your drinking and cooking water. General Store for necessities is seven miles away. Coming in prepared is our best advice. If you cannot unplug, this is not your place - Although we have added solar, it is depending on weather so you will need to be aware of your usage. Think candlelight and campfires. Electricity is not meant to run 24/7. Solar/battery systems really don't work well with curling irons and blow driers! You should consider going "au natural", no one will judge!
