Stables by the Vines

Description

In 1856, an English stonemason, Thompson Priest, began mining slate in Mintaro. At the same time, he built a home with stables at the rear of his property. Over the intervening years, the stables fell into a desperate state, however, recently, the Stable has returned to life through a sensitive restoration and refurbishment. Set on the edge of Reillys Winery, the Stable is a 100m walk through the vines to the cellar door and further 20 metres to the renowned Magpie Stump Hotel. The space Stables by the Vines is a special location for two. The single bedroom, that once was the original horse stable, has a comfortable Queen-sized bed that looks out beyond the louvred French doors, through the orderly rows of Reillys cabernet sauvignon vines and onto the ancient gum trees aligning the nearby creek. It is a magical setting. The central room is the original tack room and you are able to open the stable half-door whilst sitting at a small dining table to be further captivated by the vineyard view. Alternatively, you may wish to sit up at a higher table and take in the view from the window’s perspective. As well, you have the comfort of a lounge to rest up in while you read, listen to music or watch television. Wifi is available. An ambient electric fireplace will add further warmth to the reverse cycle air conditioner in winter. Beyond the tack room there is a fully furbished kitchenette, including crockery/utensils, microwave oven, refrigerator, toaster and tea and coffee making facilities. You will receive a welcome hamper that contains cereals, bread, jams, tea, coffee and milk. In Mintaro, you will find two outstanding wineries and a hotel – but there is no supermarket or café to purchase additional food requirements! Whilst we recommend eating at any of the local hotels and wineries, we nevertheless suggest you pop into a shop prior to arrival for any supplementary supplies. Beside the kitchenette you will find a small but comfortable powder room, with shower. A hair drier is included. The Stable is a private cottage accessed from a shared courtyard. It is adjacent to the host's home and there are several outdoor settings on the property you are welcome to use. The central location of the property provides an ideal base for exploring the local area, further afield, or simply relaxing in the extensive gardens. A large private parking area is available for guest vehicles. There is a key safe for you to able access the Stable at your convenience and we are available on our mobile phone 24 hours.
