In the winter months, however, most businesses are shut, making it a very, very quiet place. Most winters there are one or two supermarkets that remain open (with limited opening hours), and possibly one restaurant/bar. For more options in the winter months, it is necessary to visit places beyond Pefkos, like Lardos, 4 km away. Plakia beach is arguably the best-loved beach on the island.
