Farmhouse in the vineyards

La Bonnetie is a stunning 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms stone farmhouse set amongst vineyards and overlooking rolling fields and situated near the River Dordogne, 5 minutes from Sainte Foy la Grande, a medieval bastide town. High standard accommodation and original features are combined to make this a truly wonderful home. The area is ideal for lovers of great nature, food, wine, medieval architecture, golf, canoeing, hiking and relaxing holidays with family and friends. The space The house has a great sense of space and has been carefully prepared to accommodate you during your stay. Packed full of original features, the thick walls make the house very cool in summer and cosy in winter. On the ground floor, there is a large living room with cable TV and open fireplace. The large kitchen has a dining area to comfortably sit 12 people. A toilet is situated just off the kitchen. Leading out from the main living room, there is a shaded terrace with large eating area and BBQ with an amazing view. Sitting in the summer warmth you are surrounded by the birds and at night the clear sky comes complete with more stars than you can take in! The beautiful terrace, the infinity pool, the covered terrace with its ping pong table and the mezzanine with its American pool table are there to enhance the experience. The infinity swimming pool features wide steps that are perfect for little ones to paddle and goes down to 3 meters deep. Sunbathers will enjoy an amazing view over the pool and the vineyards . For parents: the pool is fenced and is visible from the shaded terrace eating area. There are four double bedrooms and two single bedrooms, so 8 beds for 12 people in total: On the first floor, the two master bedrooms are large and comes with ensuite bathroom (including shower). The is also a bedroom with two single beds and a shared bathroom (including bath). On the ground floor, there are two large double bedrooms with ensuite bathroom (including shower) and a large bedroom with two single beds. You also have access to the field next to the house where Peyo and Gaya, our two beloved donkeys stay all year long. For those who are more adventurous, you will discover the entrance of a very beautiful underground cave with water springs. The cave dates back from 10,000 to 50,000 BC. The house is on the path to Santiago de Compostella and its approach is set among the vineyards and rolling fields typical of the region. There is ample parking space for up to four cars. Canoeing The area is very well-known for canoeing. Specialist canoe hire companies are within 15 mn drive from the house. Fishing The River Dordogne is famous for its carnivorous fish (incl. Black Bass, Carp and Catfish). The river down the road La Gravouze is a hot spot in the spring for fishing trouts. Other things to note Any parties of over 12 people (adults and children) will be subject to a small additional charge to cover linen. Peyo and Gaya, our beloved donkeys are very friendly and have a particular taste for carrots and apples. Access to the entrance of the cave is easy from the field or the road. Central heating is charged at £15 per day (not required in summer). The pool is closed from November to March.
