Description
Peace, quiet and natural beauty abound. Our two-bedroom cabin is a serene, comfortable space with a vaulted ceiling and natural light, surrounded by aspen and pine trees. If you see reference to the hot tub in the reviews, please note that after many years of service, it has died. We are in the process of looking into a new one. The space This log cabin on the Little Deschutes has everything you want and nothing you don't. Enjoy coffee and breakfast on the deck or curl up next to the stove and ride out the snowstorms. If you like to ski, swim, golf, or fish, our place gives good year-round access to mountains, lakes, and rivers, as well as being a short walk to the Quail Run Golf course. Gaze at stars from the hot tub or walk the 5-acre property to the river. Limitless hiking, National Forests, Newberry Volcanic National Monument, High Desert Museum, Sun River, and Mt. Bachelor ski resort (via the back route) are just minutes away. 30 minutes to Bend shops, restaurants, and music venues. We welcome your canine friends, but no felines, ferrets or hamsters please. We do charge a fee to cover the additional wear and tear. Outside the walkways of the driveway and cabin, the property is left to nature for the many species of wildlife with which we share this small slice of the planet. Our 2 camera traps have caught cougars, bobcats, porcupine, coyotes, beaver, elk, deer, racoon, geese and more. There's a minimal trail that takes you down to the river. We've seen a good number of bird species on the property (tallies or perhaps an ebird hotspot forthcoming). Guest access All parts of cabin and property. Other things to note The Little Deschutes River is a short walk straight out the front door. In the spring, we'll make a trail, but in the meantime, it's a pretty easy adventure. There is an oxbow pond, which is not the river. Stay to the right of the pond and you'll run into the river without leaving our property. It's worth the walk. Note, however, that in the spring the pond overflows into a channel that blocks passage to the river. During this time, best to visit the river at the public access at the bridge.
