Cosy Eco Yurt · Coast Path & Beaches · Salcombe
Description
Wake to birdsong and sea air in Thrift, our cosy handmade yurt on a wild coastal plateau above Salcombe. This off-grid eco glamping bolthole sits in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a short walk from two sandy beaches and the South West Coast Path. Perfect for couples and small families. A woodburner, soft textiles, home-grown food and skies full of stars. Simple, slow and deep in nature, ten minutes from the coast. Dogs warmly welcome. The space Thrift is a snug, hand-built yurt with a double bed and a single futon, sleeping up to three. Inside you will find a woodburner, unique textiles, lanterns and a real sense of calm. It sits within High Nature, a five-acre organic smallholding and eco community founded in 2009, with gardens, growing beds and covered spaces to relax in whatever the weather. You self-cater using your own private mobile kitchen unit, with a gas hob, sink, cool box and all the crockery and pots you need, plus our shared camp kitchen cabin. Guest access You share our well-kept eco facilities: compost toilets and hot showers a short walk across the field. You have access to your own private wild outdoor kitchen in your yurt garden or the fully equipped yurt camp kitchen cabin. There is a games and art tunnel, as well as a social tunnel with sofas and dining tables to ensure your comfortable regardless of weather. There is free parking on site, wifi and a quiet spot to work if you need it. During your stay We live on site, so a friendly face is always close by. We will welcome you in person, show you around and make sure you have everything you need, then leave you to settle into your own rhythm. We are here whenever you want a chat, a recommendation or a hand, and happy to give you complete peace and quiet when you would rather just be. Message us any time before or during your stay, we usually reply within the hour. Other things to note Thrift is gently off-grid, and that is the magic. Expect compost toilets, a short stroll to the hot showers, soft lighting and an unhurried pace. Bring layers. Our coastal micro-climate serves up the best and the wildest of British weather, and we have plenty of covered space for the rainy spells. The beaches are a beautiful walk with some steps and inclines, worth knowing if anyone in your party has limited mobility. Once you arrive, you will barely need your car or your wallet. GETTING AROUND You are between East Prawle and East Portlemouth, ten minutes on foot from the South West Coast Path and the sandy beaches at Mill Bay and Gara Rock. The Gara Rock Hotel and the much-loved Pig's Nose Inn are close by, and the Salcombe passenger ferry is a short hop for shops, sailing and fresh seafood. Walk, surf, swim, forage, or do beautifully little. LINEN Our hand printed cotton bedding & linen packs are an extra £12 per person, they include all bedding, sheet, duvet cover, pillow cover and a bath towel but no beach towel. They add something extra special to your stay with us! Or you can pay £5 to hire our bedding and BYO linen and towel. You are welcome to pay for these when you arrive/depart, or bring all your own bedding and linen from home.
