We are situated by the safe and sandy beach (pictured) considered to be perhaps the best in the East Cape area. After settling into your self-contained roomy apartment, relax – enjoy the fishing, amazing ocean views, or exploring the beach - then finish you day soaking up the spectacular sunsets of Waihau Bay. The space If you are looking for a beautiful unspoiled beachfront holiday destination, Oceanside at Waihau Bay in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, East Cape Region, New Zealand is an excellent choice. While this apartment The Bach is located at the rear of the main building, guests staying here will enjoy their own views of the water, through the large sunny windows. Directly in front, there is the main building of Oceanside, with the view to the ocean open on either side - our sunny spacious Bach at the Back enjoys some elevation, which adds to the views of the water from here. There is one big bedroom with a queen bed and a double/single bunk bed in the spacious open plan living area. The well equipped kitchen has a microwave and gas hob. Enjoy your own wee deck with seating to soak up the Oceanside ambiance. We also have boat parking available, on site. You will find your accommodation comfortable and well equipped with all you need, but the most special part of Oceanside is this amazing location - soak up the peace, walk the sandy beach, throw a line in and catch some dinner! watch the ocean.... and don't forget to take time for the breathtaking sunsets. Guest access Stroll across the road to the pristine sandy beach, explore the rocks (at low tide) at the right hand end of the beach,wander along to the Waihau Bay Camp Store for coffee or ice-cream, also essential groceries. There are taps outside for wash downs from sand and salt... people and equipment. Laundry facilities available by arrangement, ithere is a fee. Other things to note While many of our guests are here for the renowned fishing of the area, or perhaps travelling through the East Cape area on a road trip, should you be simply looking for a beautiful unspoiled beachfront holiday destination, Waihau Bay in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, East Cape Region, New Zealand is an excellent choice. One and a half hours drive east of Opotiki along the scenic State Highway 35, 3 hours drive from Gisborne, Waihau Bay is one of those truly special gems of New Zealand - a beautiful coastal location with a pristine beach -for those looking for something amazing, a Wee bit off the Beaten Track... PLEASE NOTE: the only cell phone coverage in the area is Vodafone and 2 Degrees. ALSO With a location that is quiet, remote and incredibly precious as well as beautiful, come limited supplies - There is one small shop/cafe for basic supplies beside the Iconic Waihau Bay Lodge, where you can also get restaurant and take away meals at Khaos Kitchen. ( You may want to make use of the fully equipped kitchen right there at Oceanside, or the BBQ, should you be spending a length of time) Fuel is also available beside the store.
