Description

Peaceful mid-century home in East Malibu with panoramic ocean views, heated pool and sauna. Located in a quiet cul-de-sac with pristine views, gardens, and native plants. This home and most of its surrounding homes were untouched by the January 2025 fires. However, some nearby lots have been cleared, and limited construction is ongoing in the area. No pets; Max 5 guests. Important: Read section about the pool. The space Malibu Oceanview Mid-Century – Discounted Due to Area Recovery This peaceful mid-century home is located in East Malibu, in a small enclave that remained intact during the January 2025 Palisades fire. The house was never damaged and is fully operational. What to Expect Ocean Views & Quiet Setting – Located at the end of a private cul-de-sac with wide Pacific views. The immediate surroundings — garden, private driveway, and adjacent homes — are unchanged and as serene as ever. Nearby Fire Recovery – You will pass a number of cleared lots and some weekday construction activity on the drive up. The lot downhill in front of the home has been cleared, but there is no active construction and no interference with peacefulness, views, or privacy. Power – The house is currently powered by a high-end generator/battery system due to ongoing post-fire infrastructure upgrades (SCE is undergrounding power lines). It is quiet and reliable under normal use. While everything runs smoothly, we kindly ask guests to be mindful of energy use — especially air conditioning and lighting. Malibu’s coastal climate is typically mild and breezy, and the house was designed to take advantage of that. We encourage you to open the windows and enjoy the natural ocean air and the sounds of nature — it’s one of the best parts of being here. If you do use the AC, please keep it set no lower than 74°F and remember to turn it off when not needed or when leaving the house. Similarly, we’d appreciate it if you turn off lights in rooms you’re not using. This not only reduces the load on the system but also aligns with Malibu’s Dark Sky Ordinance, which helps preserve the area's natural nightscape and protect local wildlife. Thank you for helping us care for the home and the environment! Pool – Heated April–September. The pool is professionally maintained, tested weekly, and safe to use. The basin has a visible patina—this may appear like dirt or stains on the floor or steps, but it is not. The pool was recently acid-washed, but the discoloration is due to age and mineral exposure in the plaster and could not be removed. It is purely cosmetic. A permanent vacuum system is installed in the pool for ongoing cleaning. It can be easily removed if needed, but is typically kept in place and running during guest stays. Please note: the underwater pool light is not currently operational. Utilities & Internet – All utilities are active. Internet is fast and stable via Starlink. Home Features 3 bedrooms: 2 king beds, 1 queen bed 2 full bathrooms (including one en-suite) Open-concept kitchen, living, and dining area with ocean views Finnish-style barrel sauna, outdoor dining area, EV charger Heated pool (April–September) Guest access Guests can use the whole house, including the pool, the sauna, and garage (if car fits). Otherwise, there is ample space in the driveway. Other things to note Booking & House Rules: - No pets are allowed - If you have a service animal, please let me know at the time of booking: 1) Whether the guest requires their service animal because of a disability? 2) What work or task the service animal has been trained to perform? - At the time of booking, please enter the accurate maximum number of overnight guests. - A maximum of 5 guests (including infants) at any point in time is allowed. - Strictly no parties Cleaning: The cleaning fee includes final cleaning as well as ongoing weekly cleaning by our team for stays over 7 days. Pool: The pool has no specific child safety features, so please supervise children closely and use at your own risk. Depth ranges from approximately 3 ft to 7 ft. - Heated April–September: Temp usually reaches 80–90°F depending on weather. Noise: This is a peaceful, quiet neighborhood surrounded by nature. Please help us preserve that: - Keep noise low, especially in the evening. - Play music indoors only, with doors closed. - Absolutely no parties or unregistered guests allowed. Septic Tank: The house uses a sensitive septic system—no trash, wipes, or hygiene products in the toilet. Avoid rinsing oil into the sink or dishwasher. Please use biodegradable detergent only. Photography/Filming: No commercial photography or filming is allowed. For those purposes, please contact the listing via Image Locations (ID: modern-231).
