Description

Immaculate newly renovated three-bedroom cottage, (1 super king en suite, 1 king and 1 twin sharing a family bathroom) dating from the 1840s in typical Dorset brick and flint. Nestled at the foot of Hambledon Hill – between Shaftesbury and Blandford – it's only a mile to the excellent village shop and an easy walk over Hambledon hill to The Cricketer's pub for lunch or a pint. Drive to the Jurassic coast (40 mins) to explore Lulworth Cove or visit the gorgeous beach at Studland or Weymouth The space Set in the heart of gorgeous countryside, surrounded by lush hills and vibrant woodland, Hanford Minima is the country cottage of dreams. Head past towering oaks, sheep-filled meadows and wooded hillsides to reach this brick and flint cottage. I was born and raised here, and live next door with my husband Rufus and one working cocker spaniel. Guests have lovely views towards Hambledon Hill, from the back of Hanford Minima, which is set in the private grounds of Hanford Parva. Hanford Minima's own garden is south facing and situated at the front of the house. Inside, it’s decorated in a contemporary style with smooth oak floors and fine cream fabrics in the bedrooms. A few vintage touches too – antique chairs, vibrant Russian canvases and an electric AGA, along with a separate electric hob oven/microwave, a dishwasher and washing machine. The kitchen is fully kitted out. Soak in a curvaceous contemporary bath, sleep on handcrafted LOAF beds and wake refreshed to tackle the walk up to the prehistoric hillfort. Your reward will be spectacular wildflowers and butterflies in spring and summer, and a taste of Iron Age history. Stroll to Child Okeford too, a thriving village with two pubs, village shop, farm shop and art gallery with fantastic food; by car, Shaftesbury is just 15 minutes and the Purbeck coast under an hour for great walks. Truly a home from home, Hanford Minima is the perfect place to escape for the summer or a relaxing long weekend in the country. Guest access The entire cottage and a small garden at the front of the property. Local walking is excellent and we are the foot of Hambledon Hill, and Iron Age fort with stunning ramparts and views over the area.
