Nestled on the west side of Keuka Lake, less than half a mile from downtown Hammondsport, this cozy cliffside cottage has everything you need for a relaxing getaway right on the waters of wine country. Walking distance from downtown Hammondsport eateries, nightlife, grocery store and quaint little shops, your Keuka getaway is also just a 5 minute drive to Bully Hill Vineyards or Snug Harbor Restaurant on the lake. Other popular attractions around the lake are within 20 min drive or boat ride. While close to the head of Keuka Lake, you’ll never be far from downtown events such as the boat show, arts & crafts festivals, or even the seaplane homecoming. No need to fight downtown traffic during these events because you’re within walking distance. If you’re not into public gatherings, no worries; your private getaway is far enough away to relax away from others in the house, on the dock, or out on a boat. With one dock slip available for you to use if you choose to rent or bring your own boat, you’ve got your own personal gateway to relaxing boat rides, water sports or fishing on Keuka Lake. Hey if you’re a pilot and own a seaplane or amphib, there’s room to park that at the dock too. Amphibs can also go ashore overnight right at the downtown Hammondsport boat launch. If you just want to have a place to rest your head, and a nice permanent dock to lay out in the sun on or have family lunches and dinners on, you’ve come to the right place. There is a huge permanent dock for family fun in the sun. There is also a dockside grill located right at the private boathouse in front of the large permanent dock. The grill is undercover too, in case it starts to rain or you want a break from the sun. The possibilities for fun here are endless. Please make sure to store your trash and empty cans or bottles appropriately near the dock (in cans in/near the boathouse) so they don’t blow away in the wind. Please be aware that there are quite a few stairs from the house to the beach. You must be physically able to go up and down stairs to get to the docks and beach area. Also, please do NOT walk up and down these stairs to and from the beach under the influence of alcohol. There are also steps leading from the roadside parking to the house. The entire house is available to guests. There is a full kitchen with apartment sized stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, and toaster. All appliances are brand new, so please treat them as if they were your own and keep them clean. We would like them to stay in great shape, not only for future guest use, but also for our own use, as we use this home ourselves too. There’s also a small living room, a small office with desk and chair (that can be used to study or use a laptop), a regular sized master bedroom with king-size memory foam bed, and a large upstairs bedroom. The entire home has brand new flooring throughout—downstairs is new laminate flooring and upstairs is brand new plush carpeting, complete with carpet padding underneath. There are two air mattresses already inflated for the upstairs bedroom. There is also an electric inflator for the single air mattress, and a built-in inflator for the full-size air mattresses, should they need more air. One dock slip is available for boat parking, but the entire large main dock can be used to enjoy the sun and swimming. There’s also a boathouse and grill on the beach that you may use, just please keep them neat and tidy. My boat lift and boats are off-limits. Please don’t touch or use any personal items or boats left on the premises. Via phone or email. I’m usually only up to 20-30 mins away on weekends and about 45 mins away during the week. Mostly everything was mentioned in the above section. If you have any questions or unsure of anything please ask! I’m just a phone call or text away and almost always have my phone on me. There are 3-4 parking spots available on/along the road above the cottage. Please be mindful and respectful of where the next-door neighbor parks his truck and car. He lives there all year round and is a very easy-going nice guy. If you’re nice to him, he is very nice and polite to you. While bathroom towels and wash cloths are provided, you may want to bring your own beach towels. There’s no on-site washer & dryer, but there is a laundromat a few minutes away in downtown Hammondsport. If you stay long enough to need to do laundry, this laundromat is clean and nicely up-kept by the owners. Walking, jogging, and biking are also common on the (asphalt) road the cottage is located on. Feel free to bring a bike or plan to continue your outdoor walking/running regimen. It’s beautiful scenery overlooking the lake for a workout! Like to swim for your workout instead? There’s plenty of room to the left of the docks to do your laps. With 90 ft of beachfront and 4 docks that go with our property, you’ve got plenty of room to do non-motorized water sports (swimming, kayaking, canoeing) right in front of your private lakeside getaway. Don’t forget to grab a fishing license and a fishing pole for your trip. You’re welcome to fish right off the dock or bring your fishing boat to fish from. If you fish off the dock, please be careful not to snag hooks or lures on my canvas boat lift canopy cover; it would likely cause permanent damage to it. There’s a bait shop just about 5-6 miles north on the lake, or a few miles back through town to the south. There are also several boat rental businesses located right in Hammondsport or on the lake that would bring a boat rental to you, if you plan and book it in advance. Please make sure your boating skills are sharp when docking! You can also rent/ride wave runners through one local boat rental business. If you don’t have your boaters license you’ll just need to ride their wave runner down near their facility. If you’re bringing a boat, contact us ahead of time and we can let you know where the local boat launches are if you’re not familiar with the area. There are several local eateries right downtown and around the lake. Two or three downtown restaurants do breakfasts, the rest do lunch & dinner. The four main lakefront restaurants with dock access are: Snug Harbor, the Waterfront Restaurant, Lakeside Restaurant, and the Switzerland Inn. There are also several restaurants in the outlying areas, such as the Pleasant Valley Inn (just a few mins south of Hammondsport) and several restaurants and grocery stores in Penn Yan (located at the northernmost tip of Keuka Lake.) There’s one grocery store in Hammondsport and two gas stations. There are 3 gas stations located directly on the lake for boats to get (mostly non-ethanol) gas from. Those gas stations are: Jake’s, Harbor Lights, and the Olney Place. Most of them also have small stores to purchase ice, bait, water & beverages or prepackaged food for your boat ride. Harbor Lights and the Waterfront Restaurant also accommodate seaplanes. Seaplane rides are given for a fee from these two locations as well.
