Awaroa - Abel Tasman National Park
Description
The Abel Tasman is one of "NZ's 8 Great Walks". The beautiful golden sands and pristine waters of Awaroa Inlet, and the Abel Tasman track are on our doorstep. Our Awaroa beachfront property is located on the edge of the Abel Tasman National Park and the Cottage is nestled in our back garden. The cottage is not seaward-facing, only a few steps to the beach. We have a Necky Looksha 19ft Ocean double kayak, life jackets, dry bags, free to use to explore the estuary, the river or Awaroa Bay. The space Awaroa is absolutely unique because it's only accessible by boat, water taxi or walking - access to our house is tidal dependent. Awaroa estuary is a stunning place with a 4 metre tidal change so the scenery is forever changing. The sea water is pristine and fabulous for swimming or kayaking. The golden sand beaches in the estuary are home to protected Oyster Catcher,Banded Dotterill birds and many species of native birds in the surrounding bush. We can book a water taxi so you can beach hop and walk other sections of the Abel Tasman Track. Piwakawa Cottage is powered by solar energy for electricity and gas for hot water.
