Description

Our peaceful cottage is nestled among the redwoods, a few miles inland from the Mendocino Coast. High ceilings and skylights make this space feel spacious, offering natural light, and views of the majestic trees. The surrounding community is special, with many residents having lived here for decades, tending their homesteads. On your way in, you are likely to see cattle, horses, pigs, and chickens. Deer, coyote, foxes, mountain lions, owls, hawks, vultures, and bears also frequent the area. The space There is a comfy King bed, clawfoot tub, and full kitchen for your use. You will have access to a small, private deck that is just outside the cottage, as well as a rustic fire pit (available during the winter/rain season). The cottage is warmed by a wood stove and electric heater (as needed). There is a television, DVD player, small blender, and small microwave available for your use. We also provide a coffee grinder, press pot, and a pour over coffee cone with filters. The cottage offers moderately fast internet, the best available in our area. A Level 2 EV charger available at our house between 12am and 3pm. We include up to $10 of charging, additional charging billed at the current off-peak rate. Please let us know in advance if you would like access to the charger. Guest access Feel free to walk around the cottage and upper parts of the property, but we ask that you respect our space down below. We're happy to recommend hikes nearby. Do not hesitate to find us if you have an urgent issue or emergency--text work best due to limited cell coverage. Other things to note 11% County Taxes are included in your stay. Please be prepared to build and maintain a fire during the winter months. We provide everything you need for the fire for your stay. We're happy to get you started, or throw in a log if you're out for the day. Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. THE WOODSTOVE IS THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF HEAT IN THE COTTAGE. Cell phone service is somewhat limited depending on your carrier, although it picks up as you drive back toward Hwy 1. The back of our house is slightly visible (approximately 200 feet) from the cottage, however, our deck and most windows face away from the cottage. Our driveway does pass by the cottage, but we limit in and out driving while we have guests, using another parking area. There are a good amount of trees between the two houses to allow for privacy, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask--we want you to be comfortable! Weather & Power Outages: Living in a rural area, we occasionally experience electrical outages. These happen most frequently during the wildfire and winter seasons, and have increased over the last several years. We encourage our guests to check the weather 5+ days before staying. At that point, you may cancel without penalties. If you are staying at the cottage and experience an outage, the wood stove and gas range will continue to work, however, water will be limited. We do our best to make you comfortable with some lighting supplies, books and games, drinking water, etc. We do not offer refunds due to outages less than 2 days. The fencing off the cottage deck is not totally enclosed, it just offers some privacy. A note for folks traveling with pups and looking for a fenced in yard.
