Description

Our Swedish inspired forest cabin is the perfect peaceful getaway for nature lovers! This rustic cabin is nestled in a fairy-tale like forest setting, and is just a short way to an amazing private community beach. Come visit the island you can drive to! Our cabin is a perfect getaway for nature lovers, beach walkers, and those seeking to unplug. Set on 3.5 acres, our guests enjoy privacy, and community-owned access to a beautiful beach, which is a short drive or walk away. The space This rustic, secluded cabin is an ideal weekend getaway: Camano Island connects to the mainland via bridge. It is a 70 mile drive from downtown Seattle, (usually about 1.5 hours), but feels a world away. This is the perfect spot for a couple's get away, or private retreat time. Parties and after hours noise are strongly discouraged. The Forest Cabin features wide-plank pine floors, a full kitchen, and charming gas stove with a window. The sleeping loft is accessed by secure ladder and features a queen bed with down comforter and high quality cotton bedding. The kitchen has been thoughtfully appropriated with a coffee maker, microwave, electric range and oven, variety of pots, pans, and utensils. We have tried to cover all the basics and you'll find some food staples to use such as oil, salt, and pepper. Please enjoy our collection favorite games and books. PLEASE NOTE: the cabin is a shoe-free home. Please bring slippers or house shoes to use inside during your stay. The cabin DOES NOT have wifi. If you are looking for a larger space please check out our new "Puget Sound View Cabin + Beach". It shares the same amazing beach access but features a gorgeous water view and two bedrooms. Pet Policy Dogs welcome with permission (not allowed on furniture, please clean-up pet waste, and sweep/vacuum up pet hair). A pet fee of $20 will be billed upon checking out, or you may leave payment upon checking out. The following conditions apply: no more than 2 dogs, owners clean up inside and outside after the dog(s), the dogs are under the owners' control both at the beach and the cabin, no dogs on the furniture or in the sleeping loft. The cabin sits on a secluded 3.5 wooded acres. A private community-accessed sandy beach is a short but steep, 10-15 minute walk on the road, or a couple minutes by car. The beach is sheltered, and faces west to Whidbey Island. The Saratoga Passage hosts abundant wildlife, fishing, and beautiful sunsets. We have the beach completely to ourselves, more often than not! We strive to maintain the quiet, peaceful character of our community. This is not an appropriate rental for loud music, parties, or late night noise. In summer you can pick berries, search for shells, or just nap in the sun. We've got beach umbrellas and sitting mats for you to use. (Please bring your own beach towels if you want one.) Watch the gray whale migration in Spring. In winter, bundle up and see how far along the driftwood-strewn shore you can walk. Please note that there is a short but steep path/trail to get on the beach. It's about the height of a short flight of stairs, but dirt. Guests with limited mobility may only be able to access the beach when the tide is low and one can walk on to the beach via the boat ramp. There is a fully accessible place to sit and enjoy the view above the beach path for those not able or wanting to access the beach. Our guests always comment on how quiet and peaceful our cabin is, and we could not agree more. The stress of city life just melts away and time seems to slow down a bit when you've got nothing on your agenda but to build a fire, open a bottle of wine or take a walk. You'll be surprised what a couple of days away can do! The cabin is about 1.5 hours from Seattle, 1.5 hours from the Anacortes/San Juan Ferry, 45 minutes from Mount Vernon and the Skagit Valley. Check in time is any time after 3:00. Check out of the cabin is 11AM, but you're welcome to use the beach all day. If you need to make other check in/out arrangements I will be flexible if possible. You'll find several good grocery stores on the way in Stanwood to stock up on provisions. The Elger Bay market is 5 miles away with basics, fishing supplies and gas. They also fill growlers of beer and we have an empty growler for your use at the cabin. We keep our guest interaction to a minimum because most guests are looking for a secluded get-away. We are happy to give advice on the area, and will answer questions and concerns promptly. Please note: There is no wifi or internet service. We have a strong cell signal with AT&T. Guests with other carriers report good service, especially at the beach. Additionally, please note that this is NOT a luxury vacation rental - while we do keep the cabin maintained to a high standard, you may see a spider, ant, or such. The cabin is located in an untamed forest setting: bugs, mice, deer, birds, stinging nettles - everything that makes the Great Northwest wild exist here at the cabin. Here's a partial list of what we have at the cabin for your use: French Press hair dryer complete kitchen with dishes, pots and pans, utensils microwave oven ice bedding bath towels beach mats (please bring your own beach towels) beach umbrella that screwS into the sand small charcoal bbq (bring your own briquettes) basic toiletries & first aid deck chairs Guest access cell service (but NO wifi), kitchen, tiled shower, furnished deck. Check in time is any time after 3:00. Check out of the cabin is 11AM unless arranged ahead, but you're welcome to use the beach all day. Other things to note Please note this cabin is not on the beach. It is a short drive or walk to a community owned beach. The cabin sits in a very private 3.5 acre forested site.
