The space This charming historic residence in the hills just outside the walled city of Lucca (6 km) is surrounded by olive groves and beautifully features a lovely small pond with a wooden bridge that leads to a little tree-shaded island. Its walls hold a unique historical and cultural heritage: it was home to the famous Architect Felice Matteucci, inventor of the first stroke engine in 1854 (prototype of the modern day motor car). For years the house has been the summer residence of many renowned families in Lucca, today it is a luxury BB with six spacious bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Antique furniture combined with traditional Tuscan style: terracotta tiled floors, wood-beamed ceilings and splendid antiques create a refined and exclusive atmosphere. Offering all modern comforts in an elegant yet rustic setting, the house has wifi and air conditioning. Another leisure room has various board games and a beautiful chessboard. Every morning we serve a tasty continental breakfast in the alfresco dining area by the pool or in the elegant indoor dining room (depending on the season). During winter you can enjoy reading a book by the fireplace, in summer taste a nice aperitif under the gazebo. Welcome drinks are included in the price. Our guests can also access to a pretty fitness area. The bedroom San Martino combines luxury, elegance and comfort creating the perfect atmosphere. Beautiful traditional Tuscan style: wooden beamed ceiling and terracotta original floors, this bedroom has a beautiful queen size bed, two beautiful antique armchairs, and a comfortable working area. It is extremely quiet and offers guests a lovely view of the pool and park. The bedroom features wifi, air-conditioning, a safe and a minibar.
