Description

We welcome you to Immeroin Farm, in the heart of Rob Roy Country in the Trossachs. Immeroin is a working farm. The house is furnished in a style that suits the surroundings. The Esse (Aga style cooker) is always on. An extra to add with the new Scottish Legislation; we are fully licensed. Enjoy! The space Comfortable, unique, traditional farm workers cottages. Recently upgraded into a holiday cottage. Go back in time and enjoy the peace and quiet in the hills of Immeroin. Explore the scenery and observe the wildlife. We invite you to beautiful Immeroin - over 2500 acres of Highland scenery in Central Scotland. Originally built as Farm Workers Cottages the accommodation offers traditional comfort and is highly suited to anybody enjoying the great outdoors, walking, cycling, photography - or couch potatoes wanting to get away from the city enjoying the view from the comfort of a cosy fire. The cottage is part of a semi detached building set in a secluded location at the end of a single track private road - 3 miles south of the village of Balquhidder. Cottage two next door is also let by us for holiday lets. This makes it also suitable for two families wanting to go on holiday together and still having their own private space. Although mirrored images to each other - both cottages have individual interiors. Immeroin is a working farm. We have sheep, cattle, horses, 5 working collies, a deaf (!) ginger cat called Sam, geese and chickens. From your sitting room window you look out on the horse field and Lianach. Also visible from your window is Ben Vane (on the left) and the Glen on the right side is Glen Shionie. Lianach is also where we shear our sheep in August - so if you are visiting us at this time, feel free to come and have a look! There are acres and acres of land on your doorstep to explore. You will need a car at Immeroin and in the winter months a 4x4 is advisable due to the possibility of snow. Although you will have the feeling of remoteness - the property is within easy access to the villages of Balquhidder, Lochearnhead and Strathyre where there are various Inns and Restaurants for eating out. Check in time is around 16.00. Make yourself at home - the door is open - and I'll come and say hello as soon as you are ready. Downstairs: entrance hall, living room, dining room, kitchen, old fashioned pantry (store cupboard). Upstairs: large wooden floored bathroom with electric shower, a bath, w.c. and washbasin. Double bedroom facing Beinn an-t Sidhein, a twin bedded room facing Lianach and a wee box room facing Lianach (more suitable for children as it is a narrow bed). Unfortunately we are not able to supply a cot or travel cot. There is secure parking for your car. There is an open fire in the living room and a supply of logs are included in your stay. Logs are stored in the little shed at the back of the house. This is a relatively central location for day trips to Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Glen Coe, Fort William, Oban. Visit a whisky distillery (nearest one in Crieff), the Crannog centre at Loch Tay in summer, the list is just too long to mention. Leaflets with inspiration for day trips are available in the cottage. Nearest supermarket is in Callander. Nearest larger supermarkets are in Stirling (1 hours drive). Drive our private road with care. For smaller vehicles take extra care to drive with two wheels in the middle and adjust your speed. The road really is quite easy to drive and I can manage it in my wee Mazda MX5 in summer- however it is a track rather than a road so speed will have to be adjusted accordingly. Due to the possibility of snow, a 4x4 vehicle is advisable in winter. House Rules We allow well behaved dogs to stay at the cottage, providing no damage is done to the property. No more than two dogs allowed. Be aware that Immeroin is a working farm. Your dog should be under control at all times and can under no circumstances be allowed to chase our animals. It is dangerous to walk your dog around cows and calves so avoid cattle when walking your dog. Take care not to approach sheep with lambs at lambing time as the ewe might abandon her lamb. No smoking in the property. We do ask that you leave the property in a tidy condition on the morning of your departure and that all rubbish has been removed to the bins. If you have visited us with your dog - make sure all dog hair has been removed. It would be a tremendous help if you could kindly clean out the fireplace so it's ready for the next guests? Other things to note Internet is fibre - thanks to the Balquhidder Broadband initiative. Fast broadband in a remote location! Registration Details ST00365P
