Step back in time and enjoy this delightful semi-detached cottage, exuding charm and character throughout. Built in the early 1730s, this distinctive Grade II red bricked cottage, is set in the heart of the historic village of Corfe Castle. This cosy retreat, nestled in the heart of the Purbecks, would surely be able to tell a tale or two! Sitting peacefully at the bottom of the romantic Castle ruins, you will enjoy morning coffee with arguably the most impressive backdrops in Dorset. The space Brook Cottage enjoys spectacular views, to the front of Corfe Castle itself and the rear of the property is dramatically bordered by the Swanage Heritage Railway. It really will feel like you have stepped back in time with the added benefit of modern creature comforts! The entrance leads on to sitting/dining room, the heated Purbeck stone floor is guaranteed to greet you with a warm and cosy welcome. Exposed beams, low ceilings and a luxurious gas effect wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped and there are modern elements like the en-suite with a roll top bath. The décor is tasteful and snug. The living room decorated in pretty pastel tones, is comfortable and enjoys a focal fireplace with gas effect log burning stove and smart TV. For those of you that enjoy dining at home rather than in one of the many local eateries, a large dining table will comfortably seat six adults. The kitchen comes well equipped for all your culinary needs. A large range cooker, tall fridge/freezer and a breakfast area complete with window seat with that stunning view of the castle, can all be enjoyed during your stay. There is also a utility area off the kitchen complete with washing machine and extra storage along with a ground floor WC. From the kitchen a stable door leads to the pretty enclosed patio area and garden, here you can sit and watch the steam train pass by. Why not hop on board from the Corfe Castle station, just a couple of minutes' walk away? Enjoy the picturesque railway route through the Purbeck countryside and down to the seaside town of Swanage. Access to the bedrooms is via the original turned spiral staircases. On the first floor you will find a beautifully spacious master suite, complete with luxurious en-suite bathroom. In keeping with the era, soak until your heart is content in the stand alone roll top bath. For your convenience there is also a shower cubicle. Further accommodation on this floor consists of a double room which benefits views of the railway. Spiral stairs lead to the twin-bedded room which encompasses the second floor in its entirety. This room also benefits from an adjacent bathroom, complete with bath and separate shower cubicle. Facilities: Bedrooms: First floor Double x2, one with en-suite. Second floor, Twin with separate bathroom. Bathrooms: Ground floor WC. First floor en-suite bathroom with roll top bath, large shower cubicle, WC. Please note headroom may be restricted in the first floor bathroom over the roll top bath. Second floor bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, WC. Lounge: Smart TV, DVD player, Sofas to seat 6 comfortably. Dining area has large pine table and chairs to seat 6 comfortably. Kitchen: Range style double electric oven and gas hob with electric hot plate, tall fridge/freezer, dishwasher, combination microwave oven, washing machine (utility area). Medium sized secure garden with table and chairs. Fully equipped charcoal BBQ. Parking: 1 space on road outside the cottage but there are no formal parking restrictions and the neighbours operate a one space per cottage informal arrangement, additional unrestricted free parking on road leading from the cottage 20 - 50 yds away. Travel cots, High Chair and booster seat available. WIFI. Linen and towels provided for weekly and short break bookings. Heating: Gas central heating. Please note gas log burner currently out of order.
