Tiroroa - our barn with an ‘extensive view’

Hi there and welcome to our new slice of heaven on the coast and on the doorstep of the Catlins Rainforest National Park. ‘Tiroroa’ is our barn style property, completed late 2019. It is perched on the hill overlooking Porpoise and Curio Bay sitting on its own hectare of land. We are the southern most Airbnb property on mainland New Zealand … next stop Antarctica! We have 3 Alpacas roaming around in the rear paddock: Jack, Trevor and Sammy. Come and say hi … The space This is our escape from Queenstown and we want to share it with others that are looking for a comfortable place to stay by this amazing coastline. With modern amenities and fitted out in a mid century style reflecting local textures and colours, it really is a world away from anywhere else. We have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (including 2 walk-in showers and 1 bath). Two of the bedrooms have a queen bed and the other has a set of bunks for the kids. Just a walk or short drive from the beach for world class surfing, or a 5 minute walk to the amazing cliffs of Blue Cod Bay, or a stroll down to the Petrified (for the rare yellow eyed penguins) or Living Forest, there is plenty to keep you occupied. If that’s not your thing, then there you can sit in the lounge or on the large sheltered deck and simply watch it from afar. Rain or shine, this place makes you relax. Guest access You will have access to the full property and hectare of land it is positioned on, with the exception of the adjacent red shed and the items within. We have 3 Alpaca in the rear paddock keeping it trim. You are more than welcome to interact with them. Please ensure gates are always closed behind you and children need to be supervised at all times of entering the paddock. Please do not feed them anything other than hay or grass as it can be harmful. Occasionally there will be cattle in the front paddock if the farmer has decided to graze at that time. If this is the case, please do not enter that paddock for your own safety. Other things to note This is a remote location so please bring any supplies with you. There is a food cafe/restaurant in Curio Bay plus a fish and chip van in Waikawa during the summer months. We do have WiFi available for general use. Vodafone and Spark have a good reception at the house. Please note the bean bags shown in the photos are currently not at the property as they were recently damaged. We do not have a rubbish collection so please take your rubbish and recycling away with you. There is a waste spot at Tokanui.
