The promenade has small beaches where you can enjoy in sunbathing and swimming. Guest access Parking is included and free. Airport is only five to ten minutes from the apartment. Other things to note About Town Omišalj is a small coastal town in the north-west of the island of Krk. Omišalj is one of the oldest towns on Krk. The town was built on the cliff overlooking the bay of Kvarner, 82 metres above sea level. The Romans built first settlement called Fulfinum in the 1st century BC that was in the nearby of the present town. The testimony of a long history are remains like Roman village and the early Christian basilica in a bay called Sepen. In the town core there was prehistoric castle (kastelijer). When Croats came, they set up a little town Omišalj and it was eminent glagolitic center. The first monuments of literacy are dating in XII.st. In the time of counts Ivan and Nikola Frankopan it was built the castle and defending tower and the town was surrounded by walls. The most significant monument is romanesque parish church of Assumption of Mary, restored and extended in XVI.st. In the old town there are two chapels. The picturesque town is situated on a hill from which is seen the city of Rijeka, Opatija and the island of Cres. Three kilometres from the town there is an airport for international flights “Rijeka”, called by the biggest city in this part of Croatia. The economy of the town is based on agriculture, fishing, chemical industry and tourism. In Omišalj you can find bank, post office, shops, restaurants, pizzerias, caffe bars, kiosk, cash machine, mooring, tourist agencies, tennis court etc. The town is famous for its celebration in August 16,th, the day after the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is called Stomorina. The young boys and girls are dancing and they put up “bandira” on the top of which is crown.
