The Moonah Hall and private garden with sauna!

This is a quiet, self-contained property that comes with its own private garden courtyard. The space A converted hall on a historic property – one of Hobart’s first – with a private walled garden courtyard and views of Mt Wellington The Hall is a unique property in a residential suburb, only a 10-minute drive from both the Hobart CBD and MONA. It’s a one-bedroom spacious cottage, which has been completely refurbished and beautifully but simply furnished. Additional beds can be set up on request. The Hall is quiet, self contained, with everything provided to make your stay easy and affordable, including pick-your-own herbs, and in-season vegetables and fruit. Bikes are available for guests, including panniers, locks, lights and helmets. The Hall is part of a historical property that was originally built in 1820 – one of the first built in the New Town/Moonah area. It has a convict-brick walled garden on one side and a covered area on the other side, complete with a barbecue and an outside dining /sitting area looking on to green lawns and fruit trees – the perfect place for relaxing and soaking up the sun. The Hall is at the same location as one of our other properties, The Barn, which you can see in our other listings. SAUNA: We have a wood-fired Huon pine sauna with private shower for guests to enjoy once per stay. The sauna required booking, so please let us know the date/time you'd like to use it via messenger after you've booked and we'll make sure it's fired up. KITCHEN/LIVING AREA: The kitchen is fully equipped, with everything you need to cook your own meals. The sitting and dining area overlook the walled garden and are bright, sunny and very spacious. There is a wood burning fire with plenty of wood available. The bathroom has been recently remodelled and provides all essential items, including a hair dryer. There is also a washing machine. The Hall is equipped with a television, DVD player and a small DVD library. There are also some interesting books on the bookshelf, which guests are welcome to read. BEDROOM: There is a master bedroom in the Hall. It includes a queen-size bed, electric blanket for the colder months, and a large wardrobe. A single day bed is set up in the corner of the living room and is available on request. We have an outside bungalow that has a king single bed and a roller bed, which can be made up for guests on request. FREE BIKES: Bikes are available on request – the city is a 20-minute ride away along the bike track, which runs within a stone’s throw of The Hall’s location. The bike track also runs out to MONA, which is a 20-minute ride by bike. Both rides are easy, scenic and enjoyable. LOCATION: Moonah is located on the northern side of the city and is easily accessible to all attractions. There are good coffee shops and bakeries within a 2-kilometre radius and some good cheap eats are close by. Supermarkets are very handy (10-minute walk or a 2-minute drive). The Hall is very close to the Hockey Centre and would be perfect for visitors during national tournaments, because it is only a 12-minute walk, 5-minute bike ride along the bike track or a 5-minute drive away. The Aquatic Centre and Domain Tennis Centre are a 6-minute drive (20-30 minute walk), the Derwent Entertainment Centre is an 8-minute drive, and Bellerive Blundstone Arena is a 15-minute drive. The Hall is also close to the eating strip of North Hobart and the wonderful iconic State Cinema and art galleries. There are also a small selection of restaurants in Moonah, just a 5-minute walk away. PARKING/INTERNET: Parking is available off road on request. Wifi internet is available for free. We will provide an information booklet of all the things available to guests in the immediate vicinity and other tourist attractions, including the Salamanca Market, the farmers’ markets, wineries, MONA and other favourite attractions worth exploring. We will also be on hand to help you if necessary. Guest access You'll have access to the whole house, and the private, walled garden out the front. Other things to note There is a no party policy. If any further information is required please email and we will be happy to provide as much information as we can. There is a CCTV camera on the car park, and on the bottom gate for guest security.
