Thirdly, there is a great feeling of spaciousness which is brought about by the over-sized bathroom, an office space the ceiling of which has been converted into a roof lantern and the fact that the houses backing onto my back garden are situated 15 feet below. But more than any of these factors, what makes my space unique is the garden, which was professionally designed by a previous owner. She planted wisteria, jasmine and roses as well as ivy in such a way as to create a bower, a sort of arboreal courtyard, a truly idyllic, private space.
