Description

Parties and sound systems are prohibited. I dreamed of this house, then I made it. My 3 children grew up here and are now gone. Clinging to the slope, the house opens onto an exceptional 180° sea view, its orientation shelters you from the wind and allows you to live outside all year round on the large veranda overlooking the pool deck. You'll love my place because of the exceptional views and the tranquility. My place is good for families (with kids) and big groups. The space The house is adapted to the slope, it is an inverted duplex. You enter through the living room-kitchen and go down to the bedrooms (except for one bedroom that is in the roof). The lower part (3 bedrooms, toilet, bathroom) is made of masonry. Everything else is wooden, it's very warm. Guest access enter the following address on your GPS 1 chemin du triangle austral in La Possession Other things to note Electricity: electrical panel behind the TV wooden hatch Water: cut off in the downstairs toilet Hot water: the house is equipped with a 300-liter solar water heater. No electric backup. Be careful, it can be hot! On the other hand, the water in the morning is at the same temperature as the night before… it only starts to heat up from 7/8 a.m. Drinking water: water is almost always drinkable everywhere in Réunion. I advise you to drink it rather than buy bottled water, which consists of buying "plastic" that will quickly overload the already problematic volumes of waste at the scale of Réunion... The only cases where it is not drinkable (sometimes a few days in the year) is following cyclonic episodes that you cannot fail to see if they occur. Internet: the box is under the TV. The access code is the original code that is written on it TV: The TV works through the BOX, use the TV control just to turn it on and possibly adjust the volume. There is no direct TV signal via antenna, it must be set to HDMI (it is normally set by default) Garbage cans: It is important to sort because Reunion Island is not expandable and landfills for unsorted waste always pose problems that are increasingly difficult to solve. Separate the recyclable (yellow bin) from the rest (green bin). The glass is to be put in the terminals (there is one on the road going up in front of the bakery "Chez Albius"). Bugs: the house is surrounded by nature, lots of plants, trees, "natural" areas around the pool, in the slope etc... it's nice but it's nature and it's inhabited. So we have visitors sometimes: - Basic instruction: do not leave anything to attract them and use closed boxes or put ALL opened food in the fridge. - Mosquitoes: all beds are equipped with mosquito nets. They are present especially in the rainy season. You have to protect yourself. The best way is to spray yourself with repellent, especially in the evening. It can also be effective to burn spirals in the house and on the terrace from the end of the afternoon. On the other hand, it is not advisable to breathe this smoke all night. There are also "tablet or liquid" that you can use - Ants: impossible to eradicate completely, a spray if they bother you too much. If you find a nest in the house, which can happen in the rainy season, or these little animals are sometimes flooded outside and urgently repatriate. - Spiders: the most impressive are those called "babouk" in Creole. They are harmless but impressive because they can be as big as a hand. If they bother you, you can kill them (insecticide bombs or a good slap) otherwise it is rather a useful animal because it feeds on other insects - Cockroach: called "cancrelat" in Creole, it is unanimously hated although perfectly harmless, because it is big, runs very quickly, flies loudly, and is described as disgusting, it is a crime of dirty mouth (same treatment as for spiders (bombs or slipper). Few in principle, you may not see them for the week but they come back in numbers if the table is good (crumbs, started food and other unwashed dishes...) - Rodents: shrew, small mouse with a pointed nose and a very high-pitched cry, not very fierce. There is also the field rat, fiercer but very, very clever. The only effective instruction is not to leave food on the varangue all night because it will probably be nibbled the next day. Same inside the house (very rare that they come in, but if it smells really good and they are really too hungry, we are not safe) - Geckos: called "margouillats" in Creole. They run on the ceilings in the evening or they feed on insects attracted by the lamps. Completely harmless, the only inconveniences are their little droppings, which are not very dirty when they are dry, and their really weird little cry sometimes in the middle of the night. They always stay on the ceilings and walls (never in beds or on tables, except in the event of an uncontrolled fall) - Outside, if you have the eye and a bit of luck, you will see chameleons (males a little neon green with incredible colors and females between brown and orange) with your cameras. - Pretty birds too, including the cardinal, whose males are almost all red, very photogenic, the "martin" which is a very clever mainate and with an incredible song (it can talk like a parrot if collected at birth) Weather: depending on the weather, some basic guidelines. As it can rain in the afternoon although it is sunny in the morning when you go for a walk, it is wise to hang the laundry where it is planned rather than on the railings. Likewise, the poufs do not tolerate rain well. If the weather deteriorates (strong wind), the shade cloth must be stored If there is a cyclone, listen to the radio and check that you have supplies of water, food and candles. Depending on the evolution, bring in everything that can fly away (all the furniture of the varangue and the pool) and close everything.
