Description

Simple, comfortable, quiet space with beautiful morning light and great views. A perfect resting place for visitors wanting to explore the surrounding areas. Situated at the edge of BLM land for scenic walks right out the door and ideally located for nearby rafting, skiing, and other recreational areas. Dixon is about 30 minutes away from Taos or Española by car, and about an hour north of Santa Fe. The space This space is ideal for a few nights stay. There is a small kitchenette for preparing simple meals equipped with a mini refrigerator, microwave, induction cooktop, toaster and coffee maker. Sleep in the loft and wake up to the sunrise and a bird's eye view of the surrounding hills, or downstairs for shaded relaxation. Guest access Feel free to wander around the property. I am often working in the pottery studio next door or somewhere on the premises and welcome curious visitors. Other things to note The paths around the property are mostly dirt and gravel with steps and stepping stones that are natural and uneven. It will be challenging for those with mobility issues. The double bed is upstairs in a loft with a very low ceiling. The stairs are quite steep, so please consider sleeping on the sofa bed downstairs if you are uncomfortable with this. It may, however, be worth the climb to wake up to lovely views of the Embudo Valley. This home is located 1/3 mile down a dirt road. Four wheel drive is not necessary (I drive a small compact sedan), but higher clearance vehicles will do better, particularly during the rainy season. **July and August = monsoon season in northern New Mexico. The dirt road leading to my house is an "arroyo", a dry riverbed that will flash flood and flow like a river during heavy storms. The only thing you can do is wait. Once the storm subsides, the road will become passable fairly quickly. When the water clears, the road can be rough and bumpy and must be carefully navigated until the County sends their road crews out to grade it. This only happens a few times a year, but please consider this potential adventure when requesting to book my space.
