The Grey Goat was built about 1770. In 1900 it was converted into a public house Ye Old Grey Goat Inn which was run by my wife's great uncle. The Inn ceased trading in 2012 and is now our home. The Grey Goat is in the centre of Town. St Helens street is in one of the oldest parts of the market town convenient for the town centre shops, coffee shops, restaurants, public houses and two parks which both offer riverside walks The space The Grey Goat had an outbuilding which was originally used as a Bake House. When the Grey Goat was converted into a public house ,Ye Old Grey Goat Inn, it became the Beer shed. The Beer shed was recently converted into a self contained modern ground floor studio flat with a kitchen, bathroom and its own private entrance and access to St Helens Street. The flat is located in the Conservation Area of Cockermouth, which is the oldest settlement in this Georgian market town and the property is Grade II listed. Guest access Other things to note St Helens Street is in the town centre with amenities such as swimming pools, two parks which both offer riverside walks and thriving local shops restaurants and public houses. There is free parking further up ST Helens Street where the residents parking restrictions end or you can use the Bitterbeck paid parking facilities nearby. There are excellent videos on YouTube. Other things to note We have 2 Manchester Terriers living with us. We are not able to accommodate any other dogs due to having a shared courtyard If you want to bring your dog you should consider booking The Grey Goat Cottage which is next door.
