A carefully restored colonial villa in a large and quiet private garden full of nature near Ambalangoda. The villa sleeps up to 6 in 3 bedrooms with A/C, ensuite bathrooms and four poster beds: 2 doubles and one with 2 singles. Free wifi, filtered water and breakfast with fruits, eggs, toast and homemade jam. The chef and houseboy living in the nearby service house will be on hand to look after you and the veranda is ideal for relaxing and dining overlooking the 40 foot pool and Madampe Lake. You will have the exclusive use of the villa, which was built in a traditional style. It is a small walauwa or manor house with the most beautiful views over the gardens, pool and lake. The three bedrooms all have A/C and ensuite bathrooms with outdoor showers (always popular with our guests). The villa chef and houseboy will be available to look after you throughout your stay. There will be at least one member of staff sleeping overnight in the adjoining service house and we can provide a laundry service for a modest fee. The villa has a kitchen and living room, but most guests tend to prefer to order lunch or dinner from our reasonably priced menu and eat on the veranda, enjoying the sounds of the wildlife and views over the pool and lake. The entire villa, gardens and private pool will be at your disposal. The staff live separately in the adjoining service house. The villa manager will be available to answer your questions and advise you on trips and excursions. The resident chef and houseboy will be on hand to look after you throughout your stay. Near the South Western coast and the Indian Ocean and in probably one of the most beautiful regions of Sri Lanka, this is a large private property in the quiet village of Godahena with direct views over the 390 hectare Madampe lake. The landscaped garden contains many different types of trees and plants, including medicinal plants and tropical fruit trees supplying the villa. The immediately adjacent lake creates a unique biodiversity and there are a great variety of birds, wildlife, different types of vegetation and fish. The area around the nearest town, Ambalangoda, contains some of the most beautiful palm-fringed beaches on the west coast. Ambalangoda is regarded as the heart and soul of southern art and culture, with its gifted mask artists (see the famous mask workshop and museum), historic bell tower and temple and as a centre for antiques. Not far away can be found the longest reclining Buddha statue in South Asia, a moonstone mine, turtle and fish farms and the lively town of Hikkaduwa. Within just over 30 minutes by tuk tuk is the famous Galle Fort UNESCO World Heritage Site. The famous Sinharaja rainforest, the Udawalawe wildlife park or a tea estate and factory can be reached during a one day trip that can easily be arranged. Close to paradise and an ideal place to totally unwind and relax - yet, only about two hours from Colombo and the airport (depending on the traffic). The easiest way to get around is by tuk tuk. We can quickly organize one for you from a pool of drivers at a reasonable price. There are train and bus stations at the nearby town of Ambalangoda and a bus service to the local village of Godahena. The expressway to Colombo is also not far away. This is a rural area, but only about 6 km from the nearest town of Ambalangoda. The villa gardens are simply beautiful and full of wildlife. Listen to the birds signing in the morning and spot the monkeys rustling through the trees.
