Farmhouse Santa Margherita is a splendidly restored 18th century house that sits on a hilltop on the Tuscan-Umbrian border in sight of Montepulciano.The farmhouse has been recently renovated in order to offer to its guests four vacation apartments. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The furnishings are luxurious and include wooden furniture, wrought iron beds and elegant lamps. The kitchens are well equipped so that all your culinary skills can be exercised. The space 55 mq.On the ground floor, can accomodate 4/5 people and includes a living/kitchen room with oven, 2 bedrooms (one double and one twin room) and a bathroom with shower. The three rooms that make up the apartment all have air conditioning. The Montepulciano area in which the estate is located is the ideal base for touring the vineyards and is rich with culture & history. The property is a listed building, part of the Contea di Laviano estate, with a notable history, on the grounds is the house which was birthplace of St. Margaret of Cortona, who spent the first years of her life in Laviano. Sit back and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside with endless views of a gently rolling landscape. you can also admire from the beautiful swimming pool. There is something to please everyone in the surrounding area: Medieval hilltop villages, ancient castles and Renaissance churches to explore; vineyards, olive groves and fine cuisine to discover; golf courses and tennis courts and even horse riding in the nearby village; sailing, windsurfing and fishing on Lake Trasimeno. Both Florence and Rome are viable day trips and Perugia with its famous Jazz Festival is just 40 minutes away Within walking distance [2 km/1 miles] of tiny Pozzuolo, south-west of Lake Trasimeno. The fortified promontory of Castiglione del Lago offers a castle, beaches and sailing 15 minutes' drive to the east, and to the south is the little hilltop town of Chiusi with its Etruscan tombs and museums. Two more hilltop villages, Montepulciano, world renowned for it's wine cellars in the Etruscan walls and Cortona, centre of art and antiques, can be reached in about 20 minutes. The ancient city of Perugia, can be reached in 40 minutes, with the enchanting Assisi not far beyond. Further afield are Siena, Arezzo and Orvieto, all less than an hour away. You could also consider visiting Rome by high-speed train from Arezzo, a 70-minute journey. On the south side of Lake Trasimeno there is a water park with several pools and slides.
