Description

Beautifully located on the edge of our coastal wild meadow farm in Dorset. Orchard View overlooks two Apple Orchards and is nestled at the end of a leafy lane with no through traffic. The coastal footpath is just steps from the door, and it's near the beach. A quiet spot for nature. 2 bed. 1 double, 1 bunk. Spacious open living/dining. Larger groups can book both Orchard View and Hazel Copse Cottages. Min stay 5 nights + discounts applied on 7, 14, 21 night & 1 month bookings. The space The wild meadow Farm on your doorstep: About 20 years ago we re-introduced many of the indigenous wild flowers and grasses back into this part of the Dorset coast line. Re-seeding our entire farm (70 acres). At that time it was one of the largest land-reversion projects of its kind on this part of the Dorset coast. Sitting on the edge of this, overlooking two Apple Orchards is Orchard View Cottage, a barn conversion tucked away at the end of a leafy 'no through' lane, at the entrance to Ivy Farm. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. As well as the long lazy walks over the farm there is plenty of space just outside the cottage for the children to play and kick a ball around. You can sit under the apple trees, sipping a cool drink on a hot day or take a stroll through the meadows on the farm to The Fleet Lagoon, one of the few natural Lagoons left in the world. Orchard View Cottage, is one of two holiday cottages, the other being Hazel Copse Cottage. Both are located on the edge of our wild meadow Farm. Orchard View cottage sits in spacious grounds overlooking two Apple Orchards. With plenty of room to kick a ball around and just Minutes from the beach. A quiet spot for nature lovers. Orchard View Cottage has 2 comfortable bedrooms, One a double bedroom and the other a bunk bedroom, A bathroom with bath and shower over, and a spacious open plan living/dining area. If you want to see the Apple blossom, A rough (weather dependent) guide would be to visit in late April - Early May ( You can message me if your late booking to see if the trees are blossoming). From mid - late April the fields, meadows and hedgerows begin flowering until we make hay in the summer. The date we cut the hay fluctuates year to year, depending on growth and weather. There is much to do locally, Here is a list of some of the activities: Beach Activities Walking and Hiking Fossil Hunting Horse Riding Sailing Windsurfing Kite Surfing Paragliding and Hang Gliding Rock Climbing Sea Angling Snorkelling Surfing Swimming Wildlife Watching Kite Surfing Boat trips Visit Country Houses and Gardens Jurassic Coastal Bus trip Or: Do nothing and relax on the terrace. Guest access The South West Coastal Footpath is just steps from the door of the cottage, from where you can stroll through our hedgerow lined fields to The Fleet Lagoon (one of the few natural lagoons left in the world). Outside your cottage there is a lovely terrace to sit and watch the sun setting over the fields and hills beyond. The children can play and kick a ball around in the large grassy area next to the orchard which has a shed, with some outdoor toys they can borrow. Many other footpaths cross the farm where you can walk out to see, listen and feel present in this beautiful natural place. Other things to note Both Hazel Copse and Orchard View Cottages are open beamed barn conversions in a rural location on our wild flower farm on the Dorset coast. Given this environment, the cottages do have spiders and woodlice. We clean the cottages prior to guests arriving and, without chemical sprays, remove all visible spiders and woodlice. However, we cannot guarantee our guests wont find them in the cottage during their stay. So, we ask our guests to be aware of this before booking, tolerant of the little creatures when at the cottage and understanding when reviewing their stay.
