Spacious Apartment on the Green
Spacious two bedroom apartment overlooking the village green of one of Vermont's prettiest towns. Centrally located, within 1/2 hour of Dartmouth, Vermont Law School, King Arthur Flour. Dartmouth Skiway, and Suicide Six. Guests have exclusive use of the apartment. We divide our time between Strafford and a beach house on Chesapeake Bay. Winhen we are in Vermont, we live in the other apartment in the building, above the Post Office. The spacious second floor loft style apartment is in the wooden annex of a handsome brick building. The wooden annex, built in 1805, housed the original general store. The larger brick building to which it is attached was built in 1833. The village post office is on the first floor of the main building. The village of Strafford is cluster of handsome 19th century residences which ring the village Green. The Town Meetinghouse sits on hill overlooking the Green. The building sits at the foot of the Green, facing a pretty church and handsome 19th century residences. The Ompompanousac River wends through the fields behind the building. You will need a car to get to Strafford and you should expect to drive half an hour to get to almost anywhere outside the two villages. The good news is that all the drives are scenic. There is no cellphone service in Strafford. You may want to download directions before you leave the interstate. Coburns, a general store in South Strafford, is the only source of food, gas and an ATM. Coburns is open from 7 am to 6:30 pm Monday through Saturday and 8:00 am to 1 pm on Sunday. You might consider stopping for groceries and dinner before checking in.
