The space Are you looking for a traditional English cottage holiday set in one of the north of England's prettiest villages? 'Blackbird Cottage' is located in the award-winning village of Waddington, in Lancashire's beautiful Ribble Valley, nestling at the foot of Waddington Fell and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by some of England's most gorgeous scenery. Providing comfortable, centrally-heated accommodation for up to 4 people and decorated with landscape paintings by local artists, the cottage comprises a comfortable living room with colour television; a fully equipped kitchen/diner, including microwave and conventional ovens, refrigerator, washing machine and dining table seating four; a large double bedroom; a smaller bedroom with two bunk beds; and a shower room with walk-in shower, basin and toilet (please note - no bathtub). Wifi access included. The cottage is located in the centre of the village, opposite the brook and Coronation Gardens, within easy walking distance of three cosy pubs and a wine bar serving food and drink. Popular with tourists, the village bustles at weekends and holidays with walkers and cyclists setting off for excursions in the surrounding fells and moorland. As well as excellent fell walking and cycling in the nearby Trough of Bowland and on Pendle Hill, which dominates the skyline to the south, the area offers many opportunities for gourmet dining, including the famous Inn at Whitewell and Northcote Manor. Waddington has been described as "a village so pretty it could have been built for some rose-tinted Richard Curtis movie"! The Yorkshire Dales (with attractions such as Malham Cove, Pen y Ghent, Ingleborough, Skipton, "Calendar Girls" country) are just 20 minutes' drive away, and the southern Lake District is just over an hour away. Trains from the bustling market town of Clitheroe (2 miles away), take just over an hour to reach Manchester Victoria. Brontë country and the Lancashire Coast (Blackpool, Morecambe) are within easy reach, as is the city of Liverpool, with its Beatles connections and the new and acclaimed Museum of Liverpool.
